With humble and grateful hearts, our family warmly congratulates my brother Sec. MEL SENEN SARMIENTO on his appointment as Presidential Adviser on Peace, Reconciliation and Unity (OPAPRU).
We extend our sincere gratitude to President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. for the trust and confidence he has placed in Mel through this appointment. We recognize the importance of this responsibility and deeply appreciate the opportunity given to him to once again serve the Filipino people in a role of great national significance.
We also thank the Sto. Niño for His continued grace, guidance, and blessings - and for once again calling Mel to a life of public service in a mission that speaks to the heart of nation-building.
The Office of the Presidential Adviser on Peace, Reconciliation and Unity (OPAPRU) carries the vital task of advancing the country’s peace process, fostering reconciliation, and helping strengthen unity among the Filipino people. It is a role that helps lay the foundation for a more just, stable, and hopeful future for generations to come.
We believe very strongly in Mel’s ability to fulfill this responsibility with wisdom, compassion, steadiness, and integrity. His long and distinguished track record in public service speaks for itself, and we believe it is this same record of dedication, competence, and sincere love of country that has called him back to serve once more.
Peace is not only the absence of conflict - it is the presence of trust, justice, healing, and unity among communities. It is the kind of peace that allows families to live with security, children to grow with hope, and future generations to inherit a stronger and more united Philippines. In this mission, we know Mel will give the very best of himself.
We are proud of him, grateful for this honor, and confident that he will serve with the same dignity, humility, and seriousness of purpose that have marked his years in government.
