The readings remind us that God is the source of all authority, wisdom, and purpose. In Isaiah, God entrusts authority to Eliakim, showing that leadership is not simply a privilege but a responsibility given for the good of others. In the Gospel, Jesus entrusts Peter with the keys of the Kingdom and establishes him as the rock upon which He will build His Church.

Yet Paul reminds us that Godโ€™s wisdom is beyond our understanding: โ€œFor from Him and through Him and for Him are all things.โ€ Our response, therefore, is humility and trust.

As Christians, we are called to recognize Christ as the foundation of our faith and to use whatever authority, gifts, or responsibilities we receive not for ourselves, but in service of God and His people. True leadership is rooted in faith, humility, and obedience to Godโ€™s will.

The readings remind us that Godโ€™s love and salvation are not limited by boundaries, nationality, or status. In Isaiah, God welcomes all peoples who seek Him, showing that His house is meant to be a house of prayer for everyone. Paul likewise reminds us that Godโ€™s mercy is offered to all, and that His promises remain faithful.

In the Gospel, the Canaanite woman approaches Jesus with great faith and persistence, even when she seems to be rejected. Her humility and unwavering trust move Jesus to recognize and reward her faith. Her story teaches us that genuine faith does not easily give up when prayers seem unanswered.

Today, we are invited to have the same persistent faithโ€”to trust in God even in moments of silence, difficulty, or uncertainty. May we also learn to see others as God sees them: not as outsiders, but as people equally worthy of His mercy and love.

The readings for the Solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary remind us that Maryโ€™s life points us toward the victory of Christ over sin and death. In the Gospel, Mary visits Elizabeth with joy and humility, proclaiming the greatness of God through her Magnificat. Her life teaches us to trust God, to serve others, and to recognize His presence even in the midst of uncertainty.

As we celebrate the Vespers of the Feast of St. Roque, we are also reminded of a life marked by faith, charity, and service. St. Roque dedicated himself to caring for those who were suffering and afflicted, becoming a witness of Godโ€™s mercy to others. Like Mary, he did not keep Godโ€™s grace for himself but allowed it to become a blessing to those around him.

May the Assumption of Mary inspire us to look toward the hope of eternal life, while the example of St. Roque challenges us to live that hope through compassion, service, and love for those in need. As we begin this celebration, may we echo Maryโ€™s words: โ€œMy soul proclaims the greatness of the Lord,โ€ and may our own lives proclaim His goodness through the way we serve one another.

Todayโ€™s readings remind us that God is present even in moments of silence, struggle, and fear.

In the first reading, Elijah expected to encounter God in the powerful wind, earthquake, and fire, but God came in a gentle whisper. This teaches us that God does not always reveal Himself through extraordinary signs. Sometimes, He speaks quietlyโ€”in the silence of our hearts, in prayer, or through the simple events of our daily lives. We need to be still enough to listen.

In the Gospel, the disciples find themselves in the middle of a storm. Jesus comes to them walking on the water and says, โ€œTake courage, it is I; do not be afraid.โ€ Peter steps out of the boat, but when he focuses on the strong wind, he becomes afraid and begins to sink. His experience reminds us that when we take our eyes away from Jesus and focus only on our problems, fear can overcome our faith. Yet, when Peter cries out, โ€œLord, save me!โ€, Jesus immediately reaches out His hand.

The second reading shows us the deep love and concern of Paul for his people. His sorrow reminds us that genuine faith is not only about our relationship with God but also about caring deeply for others and desiring their salvation.

Today, let us ask ourselves: Am I listening to God in the silence? Am I keeping my eyes fixed on Jesus amid lifeโ€™s storms? And do I have a heart that cares for others?

May we learn to recognize Godโ€™s gentle voice, trust Him in every storm, and never be afraid to reach out to Him. When our faith begins to sink, Jesus is always there to hold us up.

As we begin our Triduum in honor of Saint John Marie Vianney, today's readings remind us that the path of serving God is not always easy, but it is always worthwhile.

In the first reading, the prophet Jeremiah pours out his struggles before the Lord. He experiences rejection, loneliness, and discouragement, yet he finds strength in God's word: "When I found your words, I devoured them." God's promise to Jeremiah is not a life free from trials, but His constant presence: "I am with you to deliver and rescue you." Like Jeremiah, every discipleโ€”and especially every priestโ€”is called to remain faithful even amid difficulties.

In the Gospel, Martha makes a profound profession of faith before Jesus: "Yes, Lord. I have come to believe that you are the Christ, the Son of God." Even in the midst of grief over the death of Lazarus, she places her hope in Christ, who is the Resurrection and the Life. Her faith reminds us that trusting in Jesus gives meaning and hope even in life's darkest moments.

These readings beautifully reflect the life of St. John Marie Vianney. Though he struggled academically, endured many hardships, and spent countless hours hearing confessions and caring for souls, he never lost confidence in God's grace. His strength came from prayer, the Eucharist, and an unwavering love for Christ. He became a living witness that holiness is found not in extraordinary talents, but in extraordinary fidelity.

As our parish begins this Triduum, may we pray especially for all our priests. May they, like St. John Marie Vianney, remain steadfast in proclaiming God's Word, compassionate in the confessional, and faithful shepherds after the Heart of Christ. And may each of us, inspired by his example, deepen our love for the Lord and confidently profess with Martha: "Yes, Lord, I believe."

Today's readings remind us that the greatest treasures in life are not wealth, success, or power, but wisdom and the Kingdom of God.

In the First Reading, Solomon asks not for riches or a long life but for an understanding heart to lead God's people. His request pleases the Lord because he values God's will above personal gain. True wisdom begins with humility and the desire to serve.

St. Paul assures us that God works all things for the good of those who love Him. Even our trials, disappointments, and uncertainties can become part of God's loving plan when we place our trust in Him.

In the Gospel, Jesus compares the Kingdom of Heaven to a hidden treasure, a priceless pearl, and a great net. These parables challenge us to ask: What do I treasure most? If Christ is truly our greatest treasure, we will gladly let go of anything that keeps us from following Him wholeheartedly. The Kingdom is worth every sacrifice because nothing compares to the joy of belonging to God.

May we, like Solomon, seek wisdom above all else; like St. Paul, trust in God's providence; and like the merchant in the Gospel, recognize that Christ is the pearl of great price, worthy of our entire lives.
