𝐒𝐨𝐥𝐞𝐦𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐨𝐟 𝐒𝐭𝐬. 𝐏𝐞𝐭𝐞𝐫 & 𝐏𝐚𝐮𝐥 | 𝐉𝐮𝐧𝐞 𝟐𝟗

𝐏𝐞𝐭𝐞𝐫, a Galilean fisherman and one of the twelve apostles, known as the "𝒑𝒓𝒊𝒏𝒄𝒆 𝒐𝒇 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝑨𝒑𝒐𝒔𝒕𝒍𝒆𝒔," was crucified in Rome in 64 A.D. during Nero's reign. Two epistles are attributed to him, and he is regarded as the patron saint of fishermen.

𝐏𝐚𝐮𝐥, traditionally believed to have been martyred in Rome in 67 A.D., was a Pharisee who became known as the "𝑨𝒑𝒐𝒔𝒕𝒍𝒆 𝒐𝒇 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝑮𝒆𝒏𝒕𝒊𝒍𝒆𝒔." His letters are generally dated between roughly 50 and 65 A.D. He is also regarded as the patron of the lay apostle.

𝐒𝐋𝐔 𝐡𝐨𝐬𝐭𝐬 𝐂𝐈𝐂𝐌 𝐏𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐩𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐞 𝐒𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐥𝐬 𝐍𝐞𝐭𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤 𝟒𝐭𝐡 𝐁𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐧𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐂𝐡𝐫𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐚𝐧 𝐅𝐨𝐫𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐠𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐬
Saint Louis University (SLU) hosted the 4th Biennial Christian Formation Congress of the Congregation Immaculati Cordis Mariae (CICM) Philippine Schools Network (PSN) on 22-25 June 2026 at the Fr. Theophile Verbist Hall, SLU Sacred Heart Medical Center (SHMC).
With the theme “Identity and Purpose: Reclaiming Missionary Identity in the Frontier Situation,” the event featured talks aimed at strengthening Catholic education in schools within the CICM PSN. In attendance were SLU, Saint Louis College (SLC) - La Union, Saint Mary’s University (SMU), University of Saint Louis - Tuguegarao (USLT), and SLC - Cebu.
The event began with a Eucharistic Celebration, presided by USLT President Rev. Fr. Macwayne N. Maniwang, CICM, accompanied by SLU Vice President for Mission and Identity (VPMI) Fr. Emery Ebumea Mwako, CICM; SLC - La Union President Rev. Fr. Roderick G. Villamar, CICM; SLC - La Union VPMI Fr. Rumpearl Tenkings Isaac, CICM; SMU University Chaplain and Director of the Center for Christian Formation Rev. Fr. Nemesio F. Huesca, CICM; and SLC - Cebu Director of Mission and Identity Rev. Fr. Rafael A. Silva, CICM.
Fr. Villamar, who also serves as the Chair for CICM-PSN Provincial Committee on Education, delivered the Welcome Remarks. He reminded everyone of the role of Catholic educators and the purpose of the Congress: “A missionary educator is a teacher who sees education as a participation in Christ's mission, forming minds, hearts, and lives so that students may become persons of competence, conscience, compassion, and missionaries themselves … Let this Congress renew our identity, deepen our purpose, nurture our faith, and strengthen our community.”
Fr. Maniwang delivered his Keynote Address titled “Fostering the Mission and Identity of CICM Schools” on 23 June. He noted, “Our CICM schools already embody mission through Christian faith education in the forms of catechesis, values education, and integration of Catholic teaching into curriculum and student life; in pastoral and spiritual activities, like retreats, recollections; and initiatives that deepen missionary commitment.”

As we close the Marian month of May, 𝐏𝐨𝐩𝐞 𝐋𝐞𝐨 𝐗𝐈𝐕 invites Catholics and all people of goodwill to unite today for a historic 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐥𝐝𝐰𝐢𝐝𝐞 𝐑𝐨𝐬𝐚𝐫𝐲 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐏𝐞𝐚𝐜𝐞.

Streaming live from the Lourdes Grotto in the Vatican Gardens, Pope Leo XIV will lead the 𝐉𝐨𝐲𝐟𝐮𝐥 𝐌𝐲𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐬. Each decade will be dedicated to those affected by war and violence and entrusted to the intercession of Mary, Queen of Peace: victims of war; those bringing hope and comfort to affected communities; humanitarian and medical personnel; prisoners; and all who continue to suffer from violence and the loss of human dignity. The final mystery will be offered for an end to war and the gift of lasting peace throughout the world.

Together with 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐚𝐧 𝐬𝐡𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐬 𝐚𝐜𝐫𝐨𝐬𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐠𝐥𝐨𝐛𝐞, including the International Shrine of Our Lady of Peace and Good Voyage in Antipolo, Philippines, let us lift our hearts to God and pray for healing, reconciliation, and enduring peace among nations.

- March 29 (Sunday), 8:15 will be the start of the Blessing of Palms.
- April 02 (Thursday), Please bring your own pen for the Examination of Conscience. Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament will continue until 10:30 P.M.
- April 03 (Friday), The Station of the Cross starts at 2:00 P.M., followed by the Service of the Lord's Passion.
- April 04 (Saturday), please bring your candle and its holder. Candles will be for sale in front of the Chapel.

“The year dedicated to Saint Francis can be an invitation to simplify prayer by deepening it, rather than multiplying it; to live the Gospel concretely rather than merely talking about it. We must not fear that the sacred times of Jubilees become “banal.” They are not meant to astonish us continuously, but to give proper orientation to the heart. The Year of Saint Francis must not become another chapter full of special spiritual effects, but a silent passage from enthusiasm to deep maturity, from spectacular celebration to imitation in daily life.”

February 2 | Presentation of the Lord Jesus

Today, we celebrate the Presentation of our Lord Jesus, an ancient feast observed since the 4th century in the East and the 5th in Rome. This event marks Jesus's presentation to God and the people, symbolizing the fulfillment of God's promises and offering hope in His faithfulness.

This feast is known as Candlemas, a celebration that honors the tradition of blessing candles, representing Christ as the "Light of the World.” May we see Christ Jesus shining brightly as our guiding light in every circumstance we encounter in life.
