In the celebration of the Jubilee Year of the Archdiocese of Capiz, We joyfully celebrate the Sacerdotal Anniversary of Tatay Joedol for his faithful, generous, and unwavering service to God and His people. His priestly witness is a living testament to the enduring grace that continues to guide and strengthen our local Church.

With grateful hearts, we rejoice with him and pray that God will continue to shower him with abundant blessings as he carries out his mission with joy and devotion.

Today, we remember the triumphant entry of Jesus into Jerusalem marking the beginning of Holy Week. The same crowd that shouted “Hosanna to the Son of David” would later cry out for His crucifixion.

Palm Sunday reminds us of how quickly hearts can change, and calls us to remain faithful not only in moments of praise, but also in times of trial.

A BLESSED 26th BEATIFICATION
ANNIVERSARY OF SAINT PEDRO CALUNGSOD

The beatification of Pedro Calungsod was a moment of great joy for the Church, celebrated on March 5, 2000, when Pope John Paul II proclaimed him Blessed at Saint Peter's Square in Rome.

During the celebration, the Holy Father reflected on the powerful witness of this young Filipino martyr: “From his childhood, Pedro Calungsod clearly chose Christ and responded generously to His call. Young people today can find inspiration and strength in Pedro’s example. His deep love for Jesus led him to dedicate his youth to teaching the faith as a lay catechist. Leaving behind his family and friends, Pedro courageously accepted the invitation of Diego Luis de San Vitores to join the mission to the Chamorro people. With a strong spirit of faith, nourished by deep devotion to the Eucharist and to the Blessed Virgin Mary, Pedro faithfully carried out the demanding mission entrusted to him, bravely facing the many trials and dangers that came his way. Even when his life was at risk, Pedro refused to abandon Fr. Diego and, as a ‘good soldier of Christ,’ chose to remain by the missionary’s side until death.”

Today, Saint Pedro Calungsod continues to intercede especially for the youth, particularly those in his homeland, the Philippines. His life remains a challenge and an encouragement for young people to courageously follow Christ. As the Pope reminded the youth: do not be afraid to imitate Pedro, who “pleased God and was loved by Him,” and who, though his life was short, lived it with great faith and purpose.

As we mark the 26th Anniversary of his Beatification, may Saint Pedro Calungsod continue to inspire young people to stand firm in their faith, remain faithful amid trials, and live lives deeply rooted in the Eucharist and in loving devotion to Our Lady.

In joyful thanksgiving, the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Capiz celebrates its 75th Diamond Jubilee as a Diocese and 50th Golden Jubilee as an Archdiocese. With grateful hearts and rejoicing souls, we warmly welcome our brothers and sisters who received the Sacrament of Baptism during the Simultaneous Common Baptism Mass held today, February 21, 2026. Warmest congratulations to our 59 newly baptized Christians.

As part of this historic Jubilee celebration, all parishes and mission stations of the Archdiocese gathered in unity to hold the Simultaneous Mass Baptism within the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass for all ages. This special Jubilee activity beautifully reflects our shared calling to renewal and deeper communion as one Church, celebrating not only our rich history, but also the vibrant faith that continues to grow in the Local Church of Capiz.

May this blessed milestone be filled with faith, hope, and love as you begin your new life in Christ.

This Lenten season, we invite you to journey with us in faith, prayer, and reflection.

Join our Via Crucis every Friday of Lent at 4:30 PM at San Pedro Calungsod Parish as we prayerfully walk through the Stations of the Cross and meditate on the Passion of our Lord. Each station reminds us of Christ’s immense love, sacrifice, and mercy — a love that calls us to repentance, renewal, and deeper trust in Him.

Let this sacred devotion be a time to pause from our daily routines, reflect on His suffering, and open our hearts to grace. Bring your family and friends, and together let us prepare spiritually for the joy and hope of Easter.

During the solemn blessing of the Cross, we begin our Via Crucis with reverence and faith. The Cross, a sign of sacrifice and redemption, leads us to reflect on Christ’s boundless love and His journey toward Calvary.

We are invited to journey spiritually along the Way of the Cross. Each station offers a moment of reflection, repentance, and gratitude, helping us deepen our faith and unite our lives with Christ’s saving sacrifice. May this sacred moment strengthen our hearts as we walk the Way of the Cross together.
