Mortal life is full of trials and distractions. Our Heavenly Father knew we would need a lot of help staying focused on things of eternal importance. And when the Savior Jesus Christ visited Lehi’s descendants in ancient America, He taught them to remember the essentials.

Remember who you are—“Ye are of the house of Israel. … Ye are the children of the covenant” (3 Nephi 20:25–26). Remember who He is by partaking of the sacrament (see 3 Nephi 18:5–11; 20:3–8). Remember your ancestors (see 3 Nephi 25:5–6). Remember your posterity by recording your experiences so they, too, will remember the Lord (see 3 Nephi 23:6–13). Remember the word of God by searching the scriptures (see 3 Nephi 23). Remember your neighbors (see 3 Nephi 24:7–12). Remember your duty to God (see 3 Nephi 20:29–31). And remember that Heavenly Father loves you so much that He sacrificed His Beloved Son to save you from your sins (see 3 Nephi 11:14).

We left the presence of God and entered a world where His face is hidden from our physical eyes. This life is a journey to remember and find Him again. We are here to “remember, remember” and come home! (Mosiah 2:41).

President Russell M. Nelson is getting closer to his 100th birthday. Some have wondered about a gift. To this, he responded, “At age 99, I have no need of physical gifts.
