OFFICE OF THE LITURGICAL MUSIC DIOCESE OF LIBMANAN
LOGO EXPLAINER
The Office of the Liturgical Music is the official body dedicated to the musical dimension of Liturgy in the Diocese of Libmanan. It functions under the guidance of the Diocesan Commission on Sacred Liturgy, with the mission to ensure that the liturgical music reflects the dignity, prayerfulness, and richness if the Churchโs tradition.
In a visual symphony of our faith and mission, we present the official the official logo of the Office of the Liturgical Music:
THE CREST OF THE DIOCESE OF LIBMANAN
At the left panel of the shield rests the crest of the Diocese of Libmanan which presents the Monogram of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Our Lady of the Pillar, and St. Joseph, our revered Patrons. Including this crest is not a mere repetition but a reminder of our fidelity to Rome and our communion with the whole Body of Christ. This, then, indicates that every liturgical music that we sing a not for a personal or individual group performance, but a service to the Church rooted in tradition and mission.
THE BIBLE
Positioned at the upper right quadrant of the shield is the symbol of the living Word of God. All liturgical Music, whether sung by choirs or whispered in the heart, finds its true source and inspiration from the Sacred Scriptures.
THE HARP
At the lower right quadrant of the shield shows an image of the harp, an ancient musical instrument that appears widely in the Sacred Scriptures. From King Davidโs lamentations to his triumphant praises, it captures a wide range of emotions that expresses our humanity. And these emotions and experiences are then integrated in our prayer and liturgy and truly becomes our gift and an offering to God voiced as our songs of praise.
The Harp is also the symbol of St. Cecilia, virgin and martyr, the patroness of musicians. The beauty of her life and martyrdom is an inspiration for every member of the music ministry to serve with sincerity, reverence, and grace as we โsing to God in our hearts.โ
THE GREGORIAN CHANT โ Sanctus, Sanctus, Sanctus
Encircling the crest is a subtle yet sacred element: the musical notation (โneumesโ) of the โSanctusโ in Gregorian Chant. This is the timeless hymn of the angels rooted in Sacred Scriptures (cf. Rev. 5,8; and Is. 6,3). This reminds us the every time we sing in the liturgy, we are more than filling the air with sound, but here on earth, we join the eternal praises of the heavenly choirs of angels. Our liturgical hymns, then, helps us to โraise our minds and hearts to God.โ
Motto:
โQUI BENE CANTAT ORAT BISโ
Beneath the shield runs the Latin phrase: โQui bene cantat, orat bisโ (He who sings well, prays twiceโ.
Often attributed to St. Augustine, this beloved saying expresses the power of the sacred music. When every hymn is sung with love, skill, and intention, music becomes not just prayer, but prayer intensified. This is a challenge for every music minister or groups to sing not for mere performance. Every song and service should flow from our heart and soul so that each note may rise as a twofold offering to God.
Conclusion:
This new logo of the Music Ministry is truly more than just visual representation, but a calling and challenge for our sacred ministry. In every ministry, rehearsal, and celebration, may this emblem remind us that through our talents, and ministry, our primary vocation is to love and serve the church and walk in the path of holiness with Christ, our great Maestro. ๐ผ
