Blessed are You, Almighty Father, source of all goodness and wisdom. Look down upon us Your children, who are trying to serve You with all our heart. Deign to raise Fr. George J. Willmann to the honors of the altar.

He was the prayerful, strong, dauntless model that we all need in this new era, he was a pastor in the care and formation of the youth; the relief of victims of war and violence; the alleviation of the suffering of the poor and the preservation and promotion of the sanctity of life, marriage and the family.
Make him the lamp on the lampstand giving light to all in the house. Make him the city set on the mountain, which cannot be hidden, so that all of us may learn from his courage, his integrity, his indomitable spirit in propagating and living the Gospel.

Through his intercession, bestow on us the favor we ask You in faith (pause here and silently entrust to the Lord your petitions). Through Christ our Lord. Amen.

"The proof of love is in the works." โ€“ Saint Gregory the Great

Saint Gregory the Great was a Roman pope, theologian, and Doctor of the Church who devoted his life to the service of Christ and His people. Before becoming pope, he lived as a monk and founded monasteries, cultivating a deep life of prayer and contemplation. As Pope, he became a tireless shepherd who cared deeply for the poor, strengthened Church discipline, supported missionary work, and worked to bring renewal to the Christian community.

Saint Gregory played a significant role in the evangelization of England, sending missionaries to proclaim the Gospel and establish the Church there. He also contributed greatly to the development of sacred music and is traditionally associated with the growth of Gregorian chant. Through his writings and pastoral leadership, he left a lasting influence on Catholic theology and spirituality.

His life reminds us that true leadership is rooted in humility and service. Though entrusted with great responsibility, Saint Gregory called himself a "servant of the servants of God," placing the needs of the Church and the poor before his own.

As Knights of Columbus, may we follow the example of Saint Gregory the Great by serving with humility, strengthening our faith through prayer and formation, caring for the poor, and courageously supporting the mission of the Church.

God, our Father, protector of the poor and defender of the widow and orphan, you called your priest, Blessed Michael McGivney, to be an apostle of Christian family life and to lead the young to the generous service of their neighbor. Through the example of his life and virtue, may we follow your Son, Jesus Christ, more closely, fulfilling his commandment of charity and building up his Body which is the Church. - Born in Brooklyn, New York, he entered the Society of Jesus (Jesuits) in 1915. He first arrived in the Philippines in 1922 as a young seminarian to teach at the Ateneo de Manila.

- Ordained in Maryland in 1928, he returned permanently to the Philippines in 1936, serving as a educator, dean, and treasurer at Ateneo de Manila and later at San Jose Seminary.

- During the Japanese occupation of the Philippines, Fr. Willmann ministered to civilians and POWs. He was arrested by Japanese forces in 1944 and held at the Los Baรฑos internment camp until he was rescued by Allied forces during the liberation of the Philippines in February 1945.

- In recognition of his decades of service, President Ferdinand Marcos granted him Filipino citizenship by presidential decree in 1975.

Expansion of the Knights of Columbus in Philippines:
- Appointed as Chaplain of Manila Council 1000 in 1938, he eventually became the first Philippine Deputy of the Order in 1962. He grew the organization from a small local council into a massive, nationwide network of charity and fraternal leadership.

Yesterday September 1, we joyfully celebrate the 2nd Charter Anniversary of the Knights of Columbus St. John the Baptist Council 18537! โš”๏ธโœ๏ธ

For two years, our Council has been united in Charity, Unity, Fraternity, And Patriotism, faithfully serving our Church, community, families, and brothers in the spirit of the Knights of Columbus.

As we commemorate this meaningful milestone, we give thanks to Almighty God for His countless blessings and for all the brothers, families, clergy, and supporters who have journeyed with us since the beginning.

May this anniversary inspire us to continue our mission of faith, service, and brotherhood, and may our Council grow stronger in our commitment to the principles and ideals of the Knights of Columbus.
