As we celebrate the solemnity of Pentecost tomorrow, let us gather as one faithful community to commemorate the descent of the Holy Spirit upon the Apostles — the birth of the Church and the fulfillment of Christ’s promise. 🕊️🔥

In reverence to this sacred celebration, everyone is prayerfully encouraged to WEAR RED, symbolizing the fire of the Holy Spirit that renews, strengthens, and guides us in our Christian journey.

May our hearts be open to the Spirit’s grace as we come together in worship, prayer, and thanksgiving.

“Come, Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of Your faithful and kindle in them the fire of Your love.” ❤️

You’ve seen the images: the great Dominican preacher with majestic angel wings sprouting from his back. But why?

St. Vincent Ferrer (1350–1419) earned the title “Angel of the Apocalypse” during his own lifetime.

A fiery missionary and one of the most powerful preachers in Church history, he traveled across Europe (often on foot) during the chaos of the Great Western Schism and the Black Plague. Crowds of 10,000+ would gather as he called people to repentance with thunderous sermons that moved hearts and converted thousands—Jews, Muslims, and Christians alike.

He boldly identified himself with the angel described in the Book of Revelation (14:6-7):

“Then I saw another angel flying high overhead, with everlasting good news to announce to those who dwell on earth, to every nation, tribe, tongue, and people. He said in a loud voice, ‘Fear God and give him glory…’”

Vincent even declared in one sermon: “I am the Angel announced by St. John in the Apocalypse!” The Pope himself approved this title, allowing Vincent to preach as the “Angel of Judgment.”

Because of this divine mission—proclaiming the Gospel, warning of the coming judgment, and calling the world to penance—Christian artists began depicting him with angelic wings as a symbol of his heavenly calling. The imagery was even referenced in his canonization documents.

Today, wings remain his most recognizable attribute in sacred art, reminding us that God still raises up “angels in human flesh” to proclaim truth in dark times.
