JOHN 21:15-17๐ค๐ซถ
(15) So when they had dined, Jesus saith to Simon Peter, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me more than these? He saith unto him, Yea, Lord; thou knowest that I love thee. He saith unto him, Feed my lambs.
(16) He saith to him again the second time, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me? He saith unto him, Yea, Lord; thou knowest that I love thee. He saith unto him, Feed my sheep.
(17) He saith unto him the third time, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me? Peter was grieved because he said unto him the third time, Lovest thou me? And he said unto him, Lord, thou knowest all things; thou knowest that I love thee. Jesus saith unto him, Feed my sheep.
Peter had failed badly. Jesus doesnโt shame him or disqualify him. Instead, He gives Peter a chance to reaffirm love 3 times - matching the 3 denials. Because failure doesnโt cancel calling if you turn back to Jesus.
Jesus ties โDo you love me?โ directly to โFeed my sheep.โ this means that real love for Christ expresses itself in serving and shepherding others. Itโs not just feelings, itโs action. Loving and feeding Christโs sheep isnโt always easy or safe, but itโs what following Him looks like.
When you fail, Jesus restores you through love, and recommissions you to serve others.
