On April 2nd, we commemorate the Feast of Saint Pedro Calungsod. Born in 1654 in the Visayas region of the Philippines, Pedro lived a humble life. His eagerness to understand the faith became apparent when he enrolled in Jesuit Missionary Schools. At the age of 14, he joined the Jesuit missions in the Mariana Islands, drawn by his fascination with Christ's teachings.

The canonization of Calungsod highlights his steadfast faith and dedication to spreading Christianity. Beatified by Pope John Paul II on March 5, 2000, Pedro was recognized as a martyr of the Catholic Church. Later, in 2012, Pope Benedict XVI canonized him, officially making him the second Filipino Saint.

Let us commemorate Saint Pedro Calungsod, recognizing him as a symbol of courage and faith. His life story encourages us to emulate his example, strengthening our Catholic beliefs and living out the Gospel in our daily lives. His journey serves as a testament to the transformative power of faith, motivating us to deepen our devotion and commitment to our religious beliefs.

MARCH 24 I PALM SUNDAY OF THE LORD'S PASSION

Palm Sunday marks the culmination of Lent and the commencement of Holy Week, symbolizing Christ's triumphant entry into Jerusalem shortly before his crucifixion.

The term "Palm Sunday" derives from the tradition of worshippers receiving palm fronds, which they use to reenact Christ's arrival in Jerusalem. According to the Gospels, Jesus entered the city riding a young donkey, greeted by adoring crowds who laid clothing, palm branches, or small branches before him as a gesture of honor, a customary practice for esteemed figures.

Palm branches, widely recognized as symbols of peace and victory, are favored for use on Palm Sunday to reflect the significance of the occasion.

MARCH 19 I SOLEMENITY OF ST. JOSEPH, HUSBAND OF THE BLESSED VIRGIN MARY

Joseph, known as a "just" man in the Bible, exemplified a profound openness to God's will. His righteousness wasn't merely about fulfilling obligations, but about being transformed by God's holiness. Joseph's love for Mary was deep and sincere, demonstrated by his intention to quietly divorce her upon learning of her pregnancy, to spare her shame. He obediently followed God's guidance in marrying Mary, naming Jesus, and protecting his family by journeying to Egypt and settling in Nazareth. Despite the lack of details about Joseph's later life, his humility and faithfulness highlight the ordinary yet extraordinary nature of the Holy Family, challenging societal expectations of greatness.

361st BAPTISMAL ANNIVERSARY OF VENERABLE IGNACIA DEL ESPIRITU SANTO

Venerable Ignacia del Espiritu Santo's life exemplifies unwavering faith, resilience, and service. Born into a world of racial prejudice and religious upheaval, her baptism ignited a spiritual fire within her, leading her to found the first Filipino religious congregation for women. Recognized by Pope Benedict XVI for her virtues, she faced challenges with fortitude, embodying Prudence, Justice, Temperance, and Fortitude.
As we commemorate her Baptismal Anniversary, let us reflect on our own baptismal vows and commit to lives of faith, humble service, and solidarity, following Ignacia's enduring example.

Greetings, Lourdesians!

We extend a warm welcome to our Lourdes College family as we come together to honor and commemorate our Foundress, Mother Ignacia del Espiritu Santo, on the occasion of her 361st baptismal anniversary.

Our Novena will commence tomorrow, February 24, 2023, concluding on March 3, 2023, followed by our Eucharistic Celebration on March 4, 2024, at the LC Auditorium for the main campus and the LC Gymnasium for the Basic Education Campus.

May the life and enduring legacy of Mother Ignacia serve as a source of inspiration for us to embrace humility and steadfast faith in navigating today's volatile, uncertain, complex, and ambiguous (VUCA) world. We express our gratitude to Mother Ignacia for her resilience and unwavering trust in the Lord amidst challenges.

FEBRUARY 22 I FEAST OF THE CHAIR OF ST. PETER THE APOSTLE

Today’s feast celebrates not only that chair as a precious relic from the time of Saint Peter, it also celebrates all that this chair represents. This feast was formally celebrated in Rome as early as the fourth century, but honor for the supremacy of Saint Peter and his successors was celebrated from the moment Jesus entrusted Peter with his unique mission.

Pray for the pope today. Pledge your obedience to him when he speaks Ex Cathedra, and know that your unity with him ensures your unity with Christ, Who governs through him.

Praise be Jesus and Mary!
As we enter the season of Lent, we are called to deepen our spiritual journey through prayer, reflection, and acts of penance. We are pleased to announce that Stations of the Cross will be held every Friday at 3:30 PM at the LC Grounds.

Join us as we walk the path of Christ's passion, reflecting on His journey to the cross and meditating on the profound love and sacrifice He demonstrated for us. This profound devotion allows us to meditate on the passion, death, and resurrection of our Lord.

We encourage all members of our community to participate, uniting our hearts in contemplation of Christ's sacrifice and the path to redemption.
