‘Marching’ & Fireworks Pumped Up MVC’s Opening Night
On the evening of April 1, 2013, after another reflective devotional, program hosts Pastor Teddy and wife Gem Asok started shaking things up by a dynamic roll call and recognition of all the alumni attending from different chapters around the world. With each area called, festive confetti showered the surprisingly aloof greying graduates of MVC. But the ‘marching’ sessions that followed certainly stirred up fond memories of their student life in the hallowed halls of their alma mater.
To top off the blood-pulsing physical exercise that comes with a good marching, the fireworks display that came after just took the breath away! Bursts of color and periodic pops against the dark, velvet sky drew ahs and ohs from the crowd that gathered just outside of the program venue, Florence kern Auditorium. The spectacular pyrotechnics display cost P25,000 for 15 minutes of the explosive fun. Not bad, given the more pricey asking in neighboring city Cagayan de Oro. Perhaps MVC’s organizers were able to cut a good deal since they’re purchasing another display of fireworks frenzy later in the week? The printed program says “fireworks” for the closing ceremony on Saturday evening, April 6th, and with all the festivities going on, another such show is sure to leave a “blast” into each one’s memories to last another 60 years!
