Novena and Feast Day of St. Carlo Acutis

The National Shrine and Parish of Our Lady of Aranzazu cordially invites the faithful to join our upcoming Novena and Holy Masses in honor of St. Carlo Acutis, Patron Saint of Social Communications and Mass Media.

"The Eucharist is my highway to heaven." — St. Carlo Acutis

As we journey through this novena, let us reflect on the inspiring life of young St. Carlo, a modern example of holiness who proved that sanctity is attainable for everyone. By keeping the Eucharist at the center of his life and using his talents for digital evangelization, he showed us how to bridge modern technology with deep faith. May his intercession guide us to use our everyday lives, words, and digital spaces to bring Christ to others.

𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐒𝐀𝐈𝐍𝐓𝐒 𝐖𝐈𝐓𝐇 𝐀 𝐂𝐀𝐌𝐄𝐑𝐀? 📷

Yesterday, the Venerable Fulton Sheen was beatified, a modern evangelizer of his time, much like Kuya Carlo Acutis today. Interestingly, both of them have photographs of themselves holding a camera.

This raises a beautiful reflection:

Modernity, when placed in the iconography of a saint, is NOT WORLDLY.

The saints did not secularize technology. Instead, they took the tools of their time and placed them at the service of God, using them for evangelization and for proclaiming the Gospel.

This is precisely why Saint Carlo Acutis may be depicted holding a digital camera.

The camera does not represent worldliness. It represents how Carlo embraced the technology available to him and transformed it into an instrument for evangelization, using his creativity and knowledge to bring souls closer to Christ.

So the next time you see Tropa ni Carlo Acutis' image of Saint Carlo holding a digicam, remember that technology can be used for the greater glory of God.

If the saints could use the tools of their generation to proclaim the goodness of God, then the faithful today can do the same.

Cameras, computers, phones, social media, and every gift of human creativity can become instruments of evangelization when placed at the service of God.

Let everything that has been created become an instrument to proclaim the goodness of the Lord.
