“I am crucified with Christ… yet not I, but Christ lives in me.”
Galatians 2:20

To believe the Gospel is to crucify our old self with Christ and to let Christ live in us. Yet we often make decisions as if the old self is still the one living.

We give based on what we expect to receive, not as Christ gave to us. We withhold forgiveness, though we have been freely forgiven. We avoid sacrifice, though He gave Himself completely.

If you truly believed the Gospel, you will be living the Gospel.

May our choices reveal His life in us, not the remnants of the old self. Let us see life through the lens of the Gospel.

Holding the rope for missions 🏜

The term is known to be coined by the great baptist missionary pioneer, William Carey, in his endeavour to take the gospel to India. He said to his friend Andrew Fuller " I would cheerfully go down into the pit, if you will hold the rope."

Fuller stayed behind, labouring tirelessly to raise financial support, promote the cause, and presented the work of those on the field. Fuller held the rope for missions while the missionaries did their work in the foreign field.

His dedication reminds us that the missions is won just as much by the one who holds the rope (the supporter, the advocate, the prayer warrior) as it does by the missionary who goes to field.

As believers, by Gods grace may we continue to "Hold the rope for missions!".

We are the Redeemed Cord and just like Andrew Fuller, we aim to faithfully hold the rope for both local and foreign missions, by selling Bibles and other Christian goods.

God portrayed in the wilderness how our needs will be provided, and that is by "obeying through faith."

The israelites were given instructions on how to gather provisions. The instructions were beyond logic and common sense. Because there was more than what they needed, yet were told to only get what was needed for the day.

Those who disobeyed followed what the natural instinct and what seemed to be right in their sight. It was to keep more. Maybe some out of their fear for tomorrow, saying, "What about tomorrow?". Maybe some out of greed? But the reason never mattered. All of those who disobeyed suffered the consequences.

While those who obeyed in the faithfulness of God enjoyed both the manna and the quails. The most important thing was that they enjoyed the fact that they were experiencing the realness of God.

God's design for provision goes beyond what seems right to natural sight.

Salvation? Obey what He says about salvation through faith.

Financial needs? Obey what He says about finances through faith.

Persecutions? Emotional problems? Lack of love? Depression? Anxiety?

I do believe the same principle applies to every kind of need. The general rule is "Obey through faith."

In light of the recent news and global events, may these be a reminder of what is written "For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places."

When we see the increase of these troubles globally, it is a clear reminder of the end. May the chaos of the world fuel our faith and our zeal to share the Gospel.
