The Sustainable Agriculture and Livelihood Ministry of the Diocese of Butuan, in partnership with the Department of Social Welfare and Development, is now moving forward in facilitating the Sustainable Livelihood Program for the Maibu Women's Integrated Farmers Association.
Prior to the implementation of the project, a series of social preparation activities and capacity-building trainings are being conducted for the 30 association members to strengthen their organizational leadership, livelihood skills, and community participation.
Before this initiative, the ministry also collaborated with the City Agriculture Office of Butuan and the Department of Agriculture in establishing a vegetable communal garden to help ensure food security within the community. Last year, the association also benefited from emergency employment assistance under the Department of Labor and Employment through the TUPAD program, which provided temporary livelihood support while strengthening communal farming and community participation among members.
Through these continuing partnerships and collaborative efforts, we hope this initiative will pave the way for a sustainable community enterprise that will empower the association, strengthen local food production, and improve the livelihood opportunities of its members.
