Honor Guards Needed by SLRDC 16138 for PSLR

The San Lorenzo Ruiz Dasmariñas Council 16138 is looking for dedicated honor guards for the Parokya ng San Lorenzo Ruiz.

Candidates must be Catholic men, at least 18 to 30 years old and are aspiring to be promoted to Sir Knights in the KofC Order.

The Knights of Columbus Honor Guard (officially the Fourth Degree Color Corps) consists of dedicated Catholic gentlemen who serve as the visible, ceremonial arm of the Order. Their primary purpose is to add solemnity and dignity to liturgical, civic, and patriotic events.

Dedicated honor guards embody the core values of the Knights of Columbus: Charity, Unity, Fraternity, and Patriotism. Deeply rooted in their Catholic faith, they maintain a prayerful, respectful, and reverent demeanor during Eucharistic processions, wakes, and funerals.

With full discipline and professionalism, they act as role models and "protectors of the Faith," willing to volunteer their time in all types of weather to support fellow Knights and grieving families.

Lucky candidates to be recruited can be supported by the council with full honor guard uniforms, insurance benefits, and other perks depending on their performance.

SLRDC Page Gains Viewership

The San Lorenzo Ruiz Dasmariñas Council 16138 is gaining viewership for the past 28 days. It peaked at 42,674 as of to date and gained 229% increase compared to previous month.

The top 5 posts which earned huge viewership are: Another Day of Mourning with 9,010 views; May 2026 Knight of the Month with 7,408; Council 16138 to push RSVP with 6,809; Happy 11th Year, Fr. Herald with 4,411; and Ang Pamamaalam kina Sir Alex at SK Lorenzo with 2,808 views.

Most of the viewers are at the age range from 18-24 years old with 32% of viewership. Aside from Philippines, the page picked up viewers from Indonesia, Vietnam, India, Nigeria, and the United States of America.

The SLRDC Page is now growing up to 10K followers. The page was created since January 26, 2015.

KofC Recognition Day

The San Lorenzo Ruiz Dasmariñas Council 16138 will hold the KofC Recognition Day on the 12th and final council meeting of this Fraternal Year 2025-2026.

This was approved by Grand Knight Esmeraldo E. Ruidera in lieu to the stalled outdoor swimming of the Family Fun Day. The event will be held on the third Sunday of next month, 21 June 2026.

This will showcase the recognition of all the awardees of the Family of the Month and Knight of the Month from July 2025 to June 2026. The council will also give certificates to the Columbian Squires and the Squirettes of Mary Immaculate for the Academic Excellence Award of school year 2025-2026.

Also in the list are the recipients of the VIP Club Awards. Certificates of appreciation will be provided to the interim officers of the Lady Knights. The Chaplain’s award and the Past Grand Knight award will likewise be given.

Highlighting the event will be the presentation of the Star Council Award to Past Grand Knight Flavian P. Acupanda for the Fraternal Year 2024-2025. This will be delivered by District Deputy of District I-35, SK Robert S. Sogello. The award was sent by the Supreme Council in the USA for the council’s exemplary performance on the said fraternal year.

The event will start with the 6:30 am Fraternal Mass. This will be followed by the Fraternal Brunch and the council meeting at 8:00 am. Finally, the council’s gavel will be handed-over by Outgoing Grand Knight Esmeraldo E. Ruidera to Incoming Grand Knight Genovevo T. Magada, Jr. symbolizing the change of command. IGK Magada will assume office on July 1, 2026 and ends on June 30, 2027.

Another Day of Mourning

The San Lorenzo Ruiz Dasmariñas Council 16138 mourns for another loss of a charter member who passed away last Saturday, May 23, 2026. Sir Alexander C. Torre (+), a 3rd Degree knight succumbed to heart attack at work. He was 49 years old.

Sir Alex joined the KofC on January 11, 2015. He was remembered as a very jolly and supportive knight particularly on the council’s social gatherings.

A necrological service will be offered by Council 16138 tonight at 6:00 pm at the Sacred Heart Memorial Gardens in Dasmariñas Bayan. Also attending the ceremonial rite is District Deputy of District I-35, SK Robert Sogello.

The council will also include in the necrological service tonight, SK Lorenzo B. Torre (+). He was Sir Alex’s father and proposer, also a charter member and a 4th Degree knight. SK Lorenzo died on May 3, 2021 but was not accorded the respect of necrological service due to the pandemic.

A barangay vehicle service will be provided to assist the Council members, the Lady Knights, and other friends, who will attend the necro service tonight. Thanks to the assistance of Sir John Derrick Mercado, the Punong Barangay of Bgy. Burol Main. Sir JD is also a KofC member of Council 8451 in Dasmariñas Bayan.

Happy 11th Year, Fr. Herald

Today, we celebrate our beloved Worthy Chaplain and Parish Priest of Parokya ng San Lorenzo Ruiz, Rev. Fr. Herald Mart C. Arenal, on his 11th Sacerdotal Anniversary!

11 years of preaching, teaching, and sanctifying – thank you for leading us closer to Jesus every day. For 11 years you have been our father, teacher, and friend. Thank you for the baptisms, weddings, last rites and every Mass where you made Christ present to us.

We are blessed by your homilies, your laughter, and your unwavering presence. Praying for many more fruitful years in the Lord’s vineyard, Fr. Herald.

May 2026 Knight of the Month

He is not only a new KofC member, he is also very young. But this is not a hindrance for the top council officers to select him as the Knight of the Month for May 2026.

Bro. Alexis Carl V. Lacdoo is only 19 years old. The eldest of three siblings, he is now on his 2nd year in Bachelor of Science in Information Technology (BSIT) at De La Salle University Dasmariñas (DLSU-D). He joined the Ministry of the Altar Servers (MAS) in DLSUD and served at Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Chapel since 2024.

Living in Bgy. San Luis, Dasmariñas City, an 8-minute ride to Summerwind 4, he was invited by SK Felix Manguerra to join the Knights of Columbus. Bro. Alexis was then exemplified on September 13, 2025 as a 1st Degree brother knight.

Bro. Alexis is not only an ordinary church servant. He is a very active participant in the DLSUD Campus Ministry through debates and live catechist since 2022. His FB wall is full of posts evangelizing the Catholic teachings.

Asked if he has dreams to join the priesthood, he did not say no. “Noong time po na nag-discern ako, hindi lang po ordinary priest but an exorcist priest, sa ministry of exorcism po. Na-curious po ako at nagustuhan ko pong pasukan ito,” he said. But continued that he will set aside first on this calling and focus on his studies at the moment.

Bro. Alexis accepted the Vocations Committee chairmanship for the next Fraternal Year 2026-2027 and will assist the San Lorenzo Ruiz Dasmariñas Council 16138 in looking for more potential candidates to join the seminary. He will also ensure that the Refund Support Vocations Program is properly implemented since he believes that the KofC is obligated to support seminarians because its founder was a priest and now Blessed Michael McGivney.

Deputy Grand Knight Jojo Cabrejas approved right away the nomination of Bro. Alexis Carl Lacdoo as the May 2026 Knight of the Month. This award is given monthly by the council. This is a worldwide project by the Knights of Columbus to encourage its members to be model Catholic servants in the local parish.

A certificate will be given and signed by the current Grand Knight, Sir Esmeraldo E. Ruidera, and their Council Chaplain, Rev. Fr. Herald Mart C. Arenal, the Parish Priest of Parokya ng San Lorenzo Ruiz, Summerwind Village 4, Burol Main, Dasmariñas City, Cavite.

Family of the Month – May 2026

The family who is considered that has strong ties with the Knights of Columbus is the family of SK Flavian P. Acupanda.

The San Lorenzo Ruiz Dasmariñas Council 16138 is very thankful to his family at any given fraternal year. SK Flavs, being a charter member of the council since 2015, had invited his three sons to become members also of the Knights of Columbus. His wife Peregrina or Sis Rina, and daughter Ma. Regina, are also members of the Lady Knights, the ladies auxiliary of Council 16138.

The family has contributed meaningfully and religiously to the parish and community. SK Flavs is an officer of the Extraordinary Minister of the Holy Communion and his wife and daughter are members of the Music Ministry in Liturgy of the church. SK Flavs is likewise a member of the Parish Liturgical Formation Team for the new church servants while Sis Rina is also a member of the Ministry of Church Greeters and Collectors, and the Daughters of Mary Immaculate International.

In the community, SK Flavs and Sis Rina were household leaders with the Couples for Christ and the Bukas Loob sa Diyos. With their children Rodney, Randy, Bryan, Ma. Regina and Carlos Rhoy, the Acupanda family is now growing. With an in-law and a grandson now, the family frequently participates in or supports the Knights of Columbus events and programs. The family spends quality time and praying together, embodying a strong family unit.

The Knights of Columbus is selecting each month a family that models Christian family values and visibly lives them every day. This is to promote and support the development of strong and vibrant families in the parish.

A certificate will be given and signed by the current Grand Knight, SK Esmeraldo E. Ruidera, and their Council Chaplain, Rev. Fr. Herald Mart C. Arenal, the Parish Priest of Parokya ng San Lorenzo Ruiz, Summerwind Village 4, Burol Main, Dasmariñas City, Cavite. However, the Family of the Month may also receive separate citations from the Luzon South State Council in Intramuros, Manila and from the Supreme Council in Connecticut, USA.

VIP Club Award

The San Lorenzo Ruiz Dasmariñas Council 16138 will be recognizing the outstanding members who have contributed in the membership growth for Fraternal Year 2025-2026 with the Very Important Proposer (VIP) Club Award.

Top on the list is SK Allan Valdez with two of his nephews joined the council. Others who contributed with one recruit each were SK Esmeraldo Ruidera, SK Felix Manguerra, SK Menchito Marquez, Sir Armando Ventura, Bro. Michael Costosa and the late Bro. Dennis Guerrero (+).

The council earned 114% increase on its target quota as required by the Supreme Council in the USA. Council 16138 already gained the Fr. McGivney Award.

The Father McGivney Award is a prestigious recognition given by the Knights of Columbus to local councils that successfully expand the Order by meeting or exceeding their yearly membership intake quota. Earning it is one of the mandatory requirements for achieving the coveted Star Council Award. The other requirement is the Columbian Award.

The VIP Club Award will be given on June 21, in the last council meeting this Fraternal Year.

Council 16138 hosted District I-35 Meeting

The San Lorenzo Ruiz Dasmariñas Council 16138 hosted the District I-35 meeting last night, May 20, held at Summerwind Village 4. District Deputy Robert Sogello presided the meeting with District Warden Leon Magno Gelle assisting.

DD Robert happily announced that all the councils in District I-35 hit or surpassed the Membership Quota and all are candidates for the Star Council Award, pending the final submission of some council on their SP7, the Columbian Award application. Because of the membership growth by 150%, District I-35 was recognized with the District Achiever Award during the Luzon South State Convention held last May 9 at Naga City.

He also congratulated all the new officers of each council for the next Fraternal Year 2026-2027. Installation of Officers will start on August, after the Fraternal Leadership Seminar and the “A Night with the Chaplains” to be held most likely on the second Monday of July.

He also said that the 4th Degree will be having an assembly meeting on May 23, in preparation for the Independence Day celebration on June.

Present during the District meeting were incoming GK Jamas Paul Caoili, IDGK Leo Guisseppe Dinglasan, and FS Ambert Bontogon from Council 8451 of Dasma Bayan.

From Council 11030 of Palapala, present were IGK Nholie Balayan and FS Ruel dela Rea. From Council 11249 of Salitran were GK Joseph Magnifico, DGK Renato Agato and FS Raul Hernandez. Coming from Council 11529 of Langkaan were GK Archi Taer, IGK Allan Abarre, and IFS Carlito Guinto.

Host Council 16138 of Summwerwind 4, Burol Main, was represented by IGK Noy Magada, DGK Jojo Cabrejas, and FS Ferdz Arana. They were supported by PGK Allan Valdez (venue host), PGK Flavs Acupanda, SK Frank Doca, and Bros. Edwin Terec, Joseph Aller, and Cris Timog. Three members of Council 16138 Lady Knights were also present to assist, namely: Sis Carmen Valdez, Sis Rina Acupanda and Sis Evelyn Funtila.
