Change is never easy, especially for a servant leader who has grown attached to a group and fears stepping into the unknown. However, the Bible reassures us that God is always with us, guiding our steps and equipping us for His purpose.
1. Trust in God's Plan
Jeremiah 29:11 – “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
As a leader, you may feel uncertain about leaving your current group, but remember that God’s plan is greater than what we can see. His purpose for you extends beyond one place, and He is calling you to trust Him completely.
2. Be Strong and Courageous
Joshua 1:9 – “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be modiscouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”
Leadership requires courage, especially when facing transitions. God’s presence goes with you, no matter where He leads. Even if you feel unprepared or uncertain, He has already made a way.
3. Focus on the Mission, Not the Location
Matthew 28:19-20 – “Go and make disciples of all nations… And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
Your calling is not tied to a specific group but to God’s greater mission. If He is leading you to serve elsewhere, trust that He is also preparing the people you will impact. Letting go of the past doesn’t mean forgetting it—it means stepping forward in obedience.
4. Change Brings Growth
Isaiah 43:19 – “See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.”
Change can feel like loss, but it is often God’s way of bringing new growth. He is doing something fresh in your life and ministry. Embrace it with faith, knowing that He is leading you to new opportunities for His glory.
Application for Servant Leaders:
Pray for wisdom and peace – Ask God to calm your fears and strengthen your trust in Him.
See change as an opportunity – Instead of focusing on what you are leaving behind, look ahead to what God is preparing for you.
Stay connected to your old group – Just because you are moving on doesn’t mean you have to cut ties. Continue to encourage and support them.
Lead by example – Show your faith in God’s direction so that others can also learn to trust Him in times of transition.
