THANK YOU BROTHERS

For one month, from April 28 to May 28, 2026, four seminarians from the Mother of Good Counsel Seminary were immersed in the different communities of the Our Lady of Lourdes Mission Parish as part of their pastoral formation and missionary exposure.

During their stay, the seminarians actively participated in the life and mission of the parish. They facilitated the Catholic Bible Class at the Abatan BEC, helping deepen the faith and biblical understanding of the participants through reflections and sharing of God’s Word.

They also experienced a one-week immersion in the communities of Coputan and Bila BECs, where they joined the people in their daily life, prayer, and community activities. Through this experience, the seminarians witnessed the simple yet vibrant faith of the people and strengthened their appreciation of missionary service.

In addition, the seminarians conducted the Altar Servers’ Training in the parish, guiding both old and new altar servers in the proper understanding of their ministry and liturgical responsibilities.

The parish community is grateful for the presence, dedication, and joyful service of the seminarians. Their immersion became a meaningful encounter of faith, service, and communion with the people of Bauko.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY

We are invited to celebrate a birthday!!!

So how old is the Catholic Church?

***
The feast of Pentecost, the last Sunday of Easter, is often referred to as the birthday of the Church.

It is believed that it was during the descent of the Holy Spirit, also known as Pentecost, when the apostles went out among the people and began spreading Jesus’ message, thus establishing the beginning of the Church.

Pentecost (which is Greek for 50th day) is celebrated 50 days after Easter and marks the day that the Holy Spirit descended upon the apostles with Mary while they were hiding behind locked doors following Jesus’ resurrection.

After receiving the power and gifts of the Holy Spirit, the apostles immediately went out and preached Jesus’ message to everyone — the apostles were heard speaking in different languages.

THANK YOU Liezel Bag-o Lapuag & Jessa Tolingin Paradero

For one month, Liezel and Jessa from Siena College of Quezon City spent their summer apostolate at Our Lady of Lourdes Mission Parish in Bauko, Mountain Province. Their stay in the parish became a meaningful experience of service, learning, and sharing with the parish community.

During their apostolate, they actively facilitated Bible classes, helping children and participants grow deeper in their understanding of God’s Word. They also visited the different Basic Ecclesial Communities (BECs), giving them the opportunity to encounter the faithful, listen to their stories, and experience the life and mission of the parish communities.

Aside from pastoral activities, Liezel and Jessa generously offered their time and talents in various parish tasks. They assisted in fixing and organizing liturgical books used in the Church and willingly extended help in household chores, showing simplicity, humility, and a spirit of service in both big and small responsibilities.

Their one-month stay in the parish reflects that mission is not only about teaching or leading activities but also about serving with a joyful heart in ordinary daily tasks. The parish community is grateful for their dedication, presence, and generosity throughout their summer apostolate. May this experience continue to inspire them as they deepen their faith and commitment to serving God and His people.

PRAYING FOR THE ETERNAL REPOSE OF THE SOUL OF FR. SAMMIE

Today, a Holy Mass was offered by Our Lady of Lourdes Mission Parish and the Bauko LGU at the Sta. Rita Cathedral in Bontoc. The celebration began at 2:00 in the afternoon and was attended by many faithful coming from the different BECs and communities, gathering together in prayer, unity, and remembrance.

In the homily, the reflection centered on the readings of the day, emphasizing faithfulness to God and living a life of love and service. The message was also connected to the life and witness of Fr. Sammy, whose humble and simple way of life touched many people. He was remembered not only as a priest but also as a singer whose gift of music became a means of bringing joy and inspiration to others. His life reflected the Gospel message — serving quietly, living simply, and using his talents to glorify God and build the community.

The celebration became a meaningful expression of gratitude and prayer as the faithful from various communities came together to honor his memory and renew their commitment to continue living the values of faith, humility, and service.

HOLY HOUR & CONFESSION

Despite the rain and unfavorable weather, some parishioners faithfully gathered today at the Our Lady of Lourdes Mission Parish for the Holy Hour and the Sacrament of Confession. The activity became a meaningful moment of prayer, silence, and reconciliation as the faithful spent time before the Blessed Sacrament and sought God’s mercy through confession.

The gathering served as a reminder that true faith continues even amid difficulties and challenges. Through their presence and participation, the parishioners expressed their love for the Lord and their desire for spiritual renewal. The Holy Hour and Confession also provided an opportunity for reflection, healing, and strengthening of one’s relationship with God.

The parish community remains grateful to all who attended and continues to encourage everyone to deepen their prayer life and appreciation of the Sacrament of Reconciliation.
