There are some of our bishops and priests who doesn't allow the girls to serve at the altar because of the following reasons:

1) Our Catholic Church is PATRISTIC as it is governed by the fathers of the Church.

2) The Ministry of Altar Servers is the only SEEDBED for priestly vocation, which is supposedly reserved for the duties of the ordained and instituted.

3) Ministry of Altar Servers and Lay Eucharistic Ministers are the only source of MULTIPLICATION OF ACTIVE MEN in the church, where the big population inside the church are the women.

ALTAR SERVER MUST NOTS

1. An altar server who is not listening during the proclamation of the Word of God (Readings/Psalm/Gospel) is committing sin.

2. An altar server who does not taking care of the vessels, vestments and other liturgical objects is also committing sin.

3. An altar server who does not participate in singing during Mass and participating well during the liturgy is not a good altar server.

4. An altar server who is not courteous is not a good server.

5. An altar server who does not follow the teachings of the Church is not a good server.

6. An altar server who does not respect the Church is not a good server.

“So an altar server MUST be careful not only in front of the priest and at the altar but in all places for he is called to server not only at the altar.” — Pope Benedict XVI

Tuesday (May 29): "We have left everything and followed you"

Scripture: Mark 10:28-31

28 Peter began to say to him, "Behold, we have left everything and followed you." 29 Jesus said, "Truly, I say to you, there is no one who has left house or brothers or sisters or mother or father or children or lands, for my sake and for the gospel, 30 who will not receive a hundredfold now in this time, houses and brothers and sisters and mothers and children and lands, with persecutions, and in the age to come eternal life. 31 But many that are first will be last, and the last first."

Meditation:

What's the best investment you can make with your life? The gospel presents us with a paradox: we lose what we keep, and we gain what we give away. When we lose our lives for Jesus Christ, we gain a priceless treasure and an inheritance which lasts forever. Whatever we give to God comes back a hundredfold. Generosity flows from a heart full of gratitude for the abundant mercy and grace which God grants. Do you give freely and generously? And why do you give, for reward or for love?
