Have you ever questioned yourself,
“What do others have that I don’t?"
We all have different journeys, different purposes, and different seasons.
During our YA Cottage at the Marimons’, we were reminded to stop looking at someone else’s race and start focusing on our own.
How do we stop looking sideways and run our own race?
1. Guard your mind.
Not every thought deserves to be believed. Comparison often starts with a simple thought or the standards we see on social media. The danger comes when we entertain that thought until it becomes a belief, leading to insecurity, jealousy, and bitterness. Guard your heart and your mind.
2. Practice gratitude.
“Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.”
1 Thessalonians 5:18
Sometimes, we become so focused on what we don’t have that we forget how much God has already given us. God has brought you through so much.
3. Run your own race.
“Let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us.” Hebrews 12:1
Their journey is not your journey. If you keep looking at others, you might stumble because you’re no longer focused on where God is leading you. Your delay may simply be God’s preparation.
4. Their victory is not your defeat.
Someone else’s blessing does not mean God has forgotten you. You can celebrate someone’s progress without questioning your own. There is room for all of us in God’s purpose.
5. Find your value in God.
You are more than what you achieve, how fast you progress, or what you have compared to others. When your identity is rooted in God, you know where your worth comes from. You are valuable because God created you and called you His own.
So, are you looking too much to your side that you’ve forgotten to look up?
Stop looking sideways.
Look up. Trust God. Run your race.
Glory to God!💗🙏🏻
