Today, we celebrate 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗙𝗲𝗮𝘀𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝗙𝗲𝗮𝘀𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝗢𝘂𝗿 𝗟𝗮𝗱𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝗚𝘂𝗶𝗱𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲, our loving Mother who continually leads God’s people closer to Christ through faith, hope, and compassion. Today, May 18th, as we celebrate 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗙𝗲𝗮𝘀𝘁 𝗗𝗮𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝗦𝗮𝗶𝗻𝘁 𝗣𝗼𝗽𝗲 𝗝𝗼𝗵𝗻 𝗜, we honor a courageous leader and a true martyr for the faith. Best remembered for ending the Acacian Schism and healing the rift between the Eastern and Western churches, his legacy is one of 𝓾𝓷𝓲𝓽𝔂, 𝓬𝓸𝓾𝓻𝓪𝓰𝓮, 𝓪𝓷𝓭 𝓾𝓷𝔀𝓪𝓿𝓮𝓻𝓲𝓷𝓰 𝓭𝓮𝓿𝓸𝓽𝓲𝓸𝓷, even in the face of imprisonment.

His martyrdom challenges us today to examine our own convictions: Do we hold onto truth when society pressures us to bend?
Through the intercession of Saint Pope John I, may we be granted the grace to face our modern trials with 𝗯𝗼𝗹𝗱𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀, 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗴𝗿𝗶𝘁𝘆, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗮 𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗿𝘁 𝗱𝗲𝘃𝗼𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝗚𝗼𝗱 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘀𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗶𝗰𝗲.

Today, we celebrate 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐅𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐒𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐭 𝐌𝐚𝐭𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐚𝐬, the apostle chosen to take the place of Judas Iscariot. Though not among the original Twelve from the beginning, Saint Matthias answered God’s call 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐡𝐮𝐦𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲, 𝐟𝐚𝐢𝐭𝐡, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐭𝐨 𝐬𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐞. Today, as we celebrate 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐟𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐎𝐮𝐫 𝐋𝐚𝐝𝐲 𝐨𝐟 𝐅𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐦𝐚 we are reminded of the Blessed Mother’s call to prayer, repentance, peace, and unwavering faith in God. Her message at Fatima continues to inspire hearts to live with 𝐡𝐮𝐦𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲, 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐚𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐜𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐚𝐠𝐞 amid the challenges of the world.

𝘼𝙨 𝙋𝙚𝙧𝙥𝙚𝙩𝙪𝙖𝙡𝙞𝙩𝙚𝙨, this celebration reflects the core values that shape our community — 𝚏𝚊𝚒𝚝𝚑 𝚒𝚗 𝙶𝚘𝚍, 𝚍𝚎𝚟𝚘𝚝𝚒𝚘𝚗 𝚝𝚘 𝚜𝚎𝚛𝚟𝚒𝚌𝚎, 𝚞𝚗𝚒𝚝𝚢, 𝚍𝚒𝚜𝚌𝚒𝚙𝚕𝚒𝚗𝚎, 𝚊𝚗𝚍 𝚕𝚘𝚟𝚎 𝚏𝚘𝚛 𝚘𝚝𝚑𝚎𝚛𝚜. Today, we celebrate the 𝐅𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐎𝐮𝐫 𝐋𝐚𝐝𝐲 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐀𝐛𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐨𝐧𝐞𝐝 𝐨𝐟 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐚. We honor the Patroness who has guided the lost and the weary since 1409, standing as a beacon of 𝒉𝒐𝒑𝒆 for the orphans, the aged, and the forgotten. Her presence is a reminder that no one is ever truly alone, for her 𝒎𝒂𝒕𝒆𝒓𝒏𝒂𝒍 𝒑𝒓𝒐𝒕𝒆𝒄𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏 and 𝒖𝒏𝒘𝒂𝒗𝒆𝒓𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒈𝒓𝒂𝒄𝒆 shelter us all through every trial.

Being a 𝐏𝐞𝐫𝐩𝐞𝐭𝐮𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐞𝐬, let us look to her example of 𝒔𝒆𝒓𝒗𝒊𝒄𝒆 and 𝒄𝒐𝒎𝒑𝒂𝒔𝒔𝒊𝒐𝒏. Just as the first Confraternity in Valencia sought to care for the "Abandoned Ones," may we also become sources of 𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗱𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀, 𝘀𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁, and 𝗹𝗼𝘃𝗲 to those in our community who need it most.

Today, we celebrate 𝐌𝐨𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫’𝐬 𝐃𝐚𝐲 and honor all mothers, grandmothers, guardians, and mother figures who have cared for us, supported us, and stayed by our side through every moment. Your 𝒔𝒂𝒄𝒓𝒊𝒇𝒊𝒄𝒆𝒔, 𝒈𝒖𝒊𝒅𝒂𝒏𝒄𝒆, and 𝒖𝒏𝒘𝒂𝒗𝒆𝒓𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒍𝒐𝒗𝒆 shape us in more ways than words can ever describe. As 𝐏𝐞𝐫𝐩𝐞𝐭𝐮𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐞𝐬, let us honor and appreciate our mothers not only today but every single day. May we continue to show them the same 𝒍𝒐𝒗𝒆, 𝒄𝒂𝒓𝒆, and 𝒓𝒆𝒔𝒑𝒆𝒄𝒕 they have always given us, and may we never forget the countless sacrifices they make for our happiness and future.
