CHURCH NEWS | Church Calls on the Faithful to Celebrate the Selfless Service of Choir Members
As the Church settles into the Advent season, parish musicians across the world are only now catching their breath after the long and demanding stretch of Easter to Ordinary Time. Choir members balance rehearsals, liturgical celebrations, and family responsibilities to enrich the worship life of their communities.
Mat Burkepile, music director and organist of St. Peterโs Catholic Church in Lindsay, Texas, highlighted the often unseen dedication of parish choirs. A master violinist, music teacher, and husband of ChurchPOPโs Jacqueline Burkepile, he shared through ChurchPOP that many musicians do not even consider their efforts a burden. โFor them, itโs an act of service,โ he noted, adding that their quiet commitment mirrors a humble walk of faith.
Burkepile encouraged the faithful to offer something simple yet meaningful this season: gratitude. โFind a choir member and thank them,โ he said. โThey give their time so our worship can be more beautiful, and a small word of appreciation means more than people realize.โ
He also expressed heartfelt thanks to all parish musicians, young and old whose presence brings life, reverence, and joy to the liturgy. โThey are a blessing to every community they serve,โ he added.
