A strength of BLD as a Covenant community is formation. A committed member transits through three ministries: Service Ministry, Intercessory Ministry and Discipling Homestead, leading to his or her covenanting, the final stage of the formation program.

While in formation, the member learns Community mores, attends various teachings, and serves in BLD activities and missions. Through formation, members get to experience first hand the humility and obedience of Christ.

Formation periods vary depending on the committed member’s progress. Key to formation is the completion of all community teachings. When a member attends the teachings in a timely manner, he or she can finish the formation program in 3 years. After covenanting, members become community shepherds, and are assigned to various apostolates, taking on servant-leadership roles in circles and ministries.
