Today, the Church lovingly honors the Memorial of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of the Church, recognizing Mary as the spiritual mother of all the faithful.

Her life of humility, obedience, and unwavering trust in God continues to guide the Church closer to Christ. As the faithful of the Diocese of Prosperidad journey together in faith and mission, may we look to Mary as our mother and companion, learning from her example to say “yes” to God with courage, love, and hope.

Did you know that the Blessed Virgin Mary was present at Pentecost?

Before the Holy Spirit descended upon the Apostles, Mary was there with them in prayer — faithfully waiting for God’s promise.

Why is Pentecost called the Birthday of the Church?

Because when the Holy Spirit descended upon the Apostles, the Church began its mission to the world.

Pentecost reminds us that the Church is alive — guided, renewed, and strengthened by the Holy Spirit even today.

SAINT OF THE DAY | MAY 23

Today, we honor Saint John Baptist de Rossi, a humble priest whose life was devoted to serving the poor, the sick, and those forgotten by society. Through his compassion and gentle care, he became a living witness of Christ’s mercy and love. As the faithful of the Diocese of Prosperidad continue our mission of service and evangelization, may his example inspire us to reach out with kindness, compassion, and a heart always ready to serve those most in need.

With hearts full of gratitude and joy, the faithful give thanks to God for the gift of life of Rev. Fr. Herbert Jaranilla, Parish Priest of St. Anthony de Padua Parish, Sibagat, Agusan del Sur, and Director for the Commission on Worship.

His faithful service, pastoral dedication, and commitment to leading the faithful in prayer and worship continue to become a blessing to the Church and an inspiration to the communities he serves. May the Lord continue to bless him with wisdom, strength, good health, and overflowing grace as he faithfully carries out his sacred mission.

𝐒𝐀𝐈𝐍𝐓 𝐎𝐅 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐃𝐀𝐘 | May 19

Today, we honor Pope Saint Celestine V, a humble shepherd of the Church who chose simplicity, prayer, and closeness to God over worldly honor and power. His life reminds us that true success is not measured by status or recognition, but by faithfulness to God and a humble heart willing to serve. As the faithful of the Diocese of Prosperidad continue our journey of faith, may his example inspire us to seek holiness in simplicity, prayer, and sincere love for God and neighbor.

Today, the Church joyfully celebrates the Solemnity of the Ascension of the Lord, when the Risen Christ ascended into heaven and entrusted His disciples with the mission of proclaiming the Gospel to all nations. This solemnity reminds us that although Christ returned to the Father in glory, He remains present in His Church, guiding us through the Holy Spirit and calling us to continue His work of love, service, and evangelization.

As the faithful of the Diocese of Prosperidad journey together in faith, may the Ascension inspire us to become courageous witnesses of hope in our families, communities, and ministries, always fixing our hearts on heaven while faithfully serving God and neighbor here on earth.
