74TH FOUNDATION ANNIVERSARY | JUNE 7, 1952 β JUNE 7, 2026
Sisters of the Immaculate Heart of Mary - SIHM βTuding Sistersβ
June 7, 1952. Fatima Hill, Tuding, Itogon, Benguet.
On this day, 74 years ago, Bishop William Brasseur, CICM founded the Sisters of the Immaculate Heart of Mary. He saw the need for native Sisters who knew their own people, culture, and language to bring Christ to the Mountain Provinces.
With 5 pioneer postulants and Mother Columba, ICM as their first Directress, the seed was planted β women who gave everything to Our Lady, becoming true βServants of the Immaculate Heart.β
From 5 to many. From Tuding to the world.
Starting in an RVM cottage in Baguio, then moving to Fatima Hill on December 10, 1952, SIHM grew with Godβs grace. Guided by the ICM Sisters, then standing on their own in 1971, and electing Sr. Carmel Fianza, SIHM as first Superior General in 1975.
In 2003, SIHM received Pontifical Right, allowing us to serve more indigenous communities.
Today, we continue our mission: All for Jesus through Mary through education, pastoral work, and prayer.
74 years of FIAT. π©΅ππ
To our Founder, to every SIHM Sister, Lay Associate, family member, student, benefactor, and friend β THANK YOU for walking with us.
Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit; as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.
HAPPY 74TH ANNIVERSARY, SIHM/TUDING SISTERS!
