Members of the different parish youth organizations (PYOs) under the CICM Campus Mission Volunteers - SLU Saint Aloysius Gonzaga Parish united for the Fellowship Night at the SLU Saint Aloysius Gonzaga Parish, March 7.
Focusing the program on the theme, โGrounded in Christ: Hope as an anchor for the soul,โ inspired by Hebrews 6:19, the event, spearheaded by the CCMV Formation Committee, served as a โbreatherโ for the members by providing them a brief moment of rest from academic and personal responsibilities.
In her opening remarks, Karissa Catalina Bayang, CCMV Chairperson, acknowledged the struggles students face as youth volunteers, emphasizing the importance of taking pauses and breaks.
โAs volunteers, we often find ourselves always moving... And while we serve with love, there are moments when we also feel tired. Sometimes we feel drained, overwhelmed, or quietly asking ourselves if we still have enough strength to continue. That is why gatherings like this are important,โ she said.
โOur theme today, โGrounded in Christ: Hope as an anchor for the soul,โ reminds us that even those who serve also need a place to rest. Hope in Christ is not just something we give to othersโit is something we, ourselves, must return to,โ she added.
Further, the Chairperson encouraged the participants to find rest and renewal in Christ, saying, โToday, may we allow ourselves to rest in Christ. May we be reminded that we do not serve alone, and that the hope we carry is strong enough to hold us even when we feel tired.โ
