Acts 27 - The Storms of Life

Despite the warning, the crew of the ship taking Paul to Rome, ignored Godly counsel and chose to follow worldly advice. As a result, they were caught in the terrifying strorm, tossed helplessly by wind and waves, and faced days of hopelessness with no sun or stars to guide them. Paul’s encouragement, prayer, and example reminded the crew that life could be preserved even in the wreckage. Though the ship and cargo were ultimately lost, all 276 aboard survived because the Grace of God is always available when we turn to Him.

In the same way, turning to Jesus amid life’s storms brings hope, strength, and joy. Reminding us to listen, obey, and place our trust in God, knowing His grace preserves life and offers a guiding hand through every trial!

Isaiah 33 - The Rising King

Judah learned a painful but necessary lesson about the futility of misplaced trust. When threatened by the ruthless and seemingly invincible empire of Assyria, their first instinct was to look to the world for security. It was only when everything else failed that God's people finally lifted their eyes to heaven in a cry for grace. God, in His infinite mercy, answered by rising up on their behalf, demonstrating that true stability and salvation are found exclusively in the fear of the Lord, which is His greatest treasure.

This passage stands as a timeless, urgent reminder for our lives today. We are incredibly slow to learn that the things we so often depend on - our financial security, human relationships, or personal strength - make a terrible refuge. God frequently allows the broken promises and trials of this world to disrupt our lives, not to abandon us, but to shatter our self-sufficiency and get our attention. When we stop staring at our problems and instead fix our focus on the immovable Christ, we discover that He perfectly fulfills every role we desperately need!

Acts 26 - Spreading Hope

Paul had once been full of anger, blindness, and opposition to Christ. He thought he was serving God, but he was actually fighting against Him. Yet Jesus met him on the road to Damascus, opened his eyes, forgave his sin, and gave him a new purpose. Paul’s hope was not based on his past, his religion, or his own righteousness. His hope was in the living Savior who conquered death and called him by grace.

Now Paul stands in chains before kings, governors, and powerful men—but he is not ashamed and he is not defeated. The hope Jesus gave him became the hope he shared with others. He wanted Agrippa, Festus, Bernice, and everyone listening to receive the same forgiveness, the same light, and the same eternal life he had found in Christ. Paul may have been bound with chains, but the gospel was not bound. His life reminds us that when Jesus gives us hope, He also sends us to share that hope with a world still sitting in darkness.

May 2026 Newsletter:

We were blessed to have a team of thirty come for a second year from Calvary Chapel in Iwakuni, Japan. They came to help with the Summer Camp for Simbahan sa Bukid and Calvary Bible Fellowship. It was an amazing four-day event overflowing with incredible games, inspirational worship, and powerful teaching as they took the youth through the book of Revelation. We had a glow night where we flooded the church with black lights and neon paint as the kids broke into teams and tried to pop LED-lit balloons. We had a day at the local jungle waterfalls, where the kids enjoyed the beauty of God’s creation. The last day concluded with a bonfire on the beach as the kids sang praises to the Lord. But none of those things was the highlight. They were all just the warm-up.

Check out the May newsletter to read all about it!

Acts 25 - The Appeal to Caesar

The Jewish leaders' bitterness toward Paul consumed them, leading them to seek his death. Their refusal to forgive turned to hatred, clouding their judgment and blocking their ability to see the truth. Holding onto grudges does not just hurt others - it poisons us. Forgiveness is not only for the one who wronged us, but for our own freedom. Letting go of bitterness allows God to heal our hearts and restore peace.

Festus, confused by the accusations against Paul, saw the resurrection of Jesus as a mere superstition. To the Jews, it was a stumbling block; to the Gentiles, foolishness. Yet, whether in fury or indifference, neither the anger of the Jews nor the apathy of the Gentiles could change the truth. Everyone will stand before God’s judgment, and the only one who can save them is Jesus. As we share the gospel, we trust that God will work in the hearts of those who hear, no matter their response.

Isaiah 31-32 - The Righteous King

When we face a crisis, our first instinct is often to look for a quick solution. In the days of Isaiah, the people of Judah did exactly this by turning to the military power of Egypt for security. The prophet warned them that relying on people is like leaning on a rotten post; eventually, both the support and the person leaning on it will fall. This happens because human resources are limited. Instead of rushing to the world for help, we are called to look to the Lord!

True peace does not come from changing our circumstances, but from God changing our hearts. When we stop being complacent and turn back to Him, He pours out His Spirit to transform our lives. This spiritual new beginning give us clarity so we can see the truth, calm our panicked heart, and finally understand His wisdom. As we rest in the righteousness that God provides, He replaces the worry in our lives with peace!
