Ptr. THE EXISTENCE OF GOD
God exists. He is the best explanation of our existence. He is a Spirit; that means He is immaterial, invisible, and eternal. He is omnipotent, omniscient, and omnipresent. By divine fiat, He created the universe "ex-nihilo", meaning out of no
thing. His existence is timeless; He existed prior to the creation of time, space, matter, and energy. His non-moral nature includes love, justice, peace, mercy, righteousness, and goodness. These virtues flow directly from Him. His flawless nature is the absolute standard of moral perfection.
2.) THE BIBLE
We believe that the Bible is the written and expressed Word of God. Though written by humans, it emanated from Him; thus it is inspired (verbal plenary), perfect, inerrant, infallible, and eternal. The truths and principles contained therein is applicable to everyone in any race, in any nationality, in any continent, and in every generation. In the pages of it, God has revealed His will, His plans, and His desire for everybody. As aided by the Holy Spirit, the Bible is our ultimate standard in matters concerning faith, morals, doctrines, conduct, and lifestyle. In the end, the world will be judged according to the Scriptures. (See 2 Tim. 3:16-17, 2 Pet. 1:20-21; John 5:43, 12:47-48)
3.) THE ONENESS OF GOD
We worship the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. From the Old Testament to the New Testament, God has constantly revealed the uncompromising oneness of His personality. The Shema, as contained in Deuteronomy 6:4 unequivocally states this position. "Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God is one Lord." In the New Testament, the Lord Jesus Christ Himself re-affirmed this in Mark 12:29, saying, "The first of all the commandments is, Hear, O Israel; The Lord our God is one Lord." That means He is numerically, absolutely, and indivisibly one. There is no distinction in His nature or essence. (See Isaiah 40:18, 25; 43:10-11, 15; 44:6,8, 24, 45:5-6, 12, 18, 21-23; 46:5, 9; 47:4; 48:12, 17; 1 Cor. 8:4, 6; Gal. 3:20; Eph. 4:6; 1 Tim. 2:5; James 2:19)
4.) THE INCARNATION OF JESUS CHRIST
Jesus Christ is the One True God revealed in human form. He is God manifest in the flesh (1 Tim. 3:16). Prior to the incarnation, He is the Word (John 1:1). In the Incarnation, He is the Word made flesh (John 1:14). He is both fully God and fully human. The terms Father, Son, and Holy Spirit do not speak of three divine persons, but simply emphasize the roles, modes, titles, and relationship of Jesus Christ to humanity. In creation, He is the Father. In redemption, He is the Son. In emanation, He is the Holy Spirit. (See Isaiah 9:6; John 10:30, 14:9-8; Rom. 8:9; 2 Cor. 3:17; Phil. 1:19)
5.) SALVATION IS BY GRACE THROUGH FAITH IN CHRIST
The Bible declares all men to be sinners and have fallen short of God's glory; the consequence of which is death. Salvation is God's work through Christ's redemptive act on calvary. Though we don't deserve it, God offered it. It is His gift to us; no one can earn it. And the only way we receive His grace is through faith. (Eph. 2:8-9)
6.) SAVING FAITH IS EXPRESSED THROUGH OBEDIENCE TO THE GOSPEL
The Gospel is the good news that Jesus came to die on the cross in our behalf, was buried, and rose from the grave to purchase our salvation (1 Cor. 15:1-4). It is the power of God to salvation (Rom. 1:16). We apply the Gospel to our lives through the following: Just as Jesus died on the cross, we also must die to our sins through repentance. As Christ was buried, we too, must be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of our sins. And as the Lord rose from the grave, we shall rise into newness of life when we receive the Holy Spirit. (See Rom 6:1-4; Acts 2:38)
Failure to believe and obey the Gospel results to eternal judgment (2 Thess. 1:7-10).
7.) HOLY AND RIGHTEOUS LIVING
As recipients of God's grace and salvation, we believe in and practice the doctrine of holiness. "Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord" (Heb. 12:14). Just as God is holy, we too, must be holy (1 Pet. 1:13-16). Our holiness is not a personal or human by-product, but an effect and empowerment of the Holy Spirit upon the lives of the believers. We believe that holiness extends to every fabric of our everyday life including our thoughts, motives, speech, conduct, apparel, external appearance, association, and technological usage.
8.) THE LORD'S COMING
We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ is coming back to take His Church with Him for all eternity (1 Cor. 15:51-57; 1 Thess. 4:13-18).
