๐ŸŒน Daily Grace in the Little Way ๐ŸŒน

Jesus speaks strongly to the scribes and Pharisees because they have become focused on appearing faithful while neglecting what matters most: โ€œjudgment and mercy and fidelity.โ€

This Gospel invites us to look beyond appearances and examine what is happening inside our hearts. We may do the right things, say the right words, attend Mass, pray, serve, and fulfill our responsibilities, but Jesus asks us to go deeper: What motivates us? What do we carry inside when no one else can see?

Jesus uses the image of a cup that is clean outside but dirty inside. It reminds us that genuine holiness begins from within. God is not impressed by appearances. He sees our intentions, our hidden struggles, our pride, resentment, selfishness, but also our sincere desire to become better.

St. Therese's Little Way teaches us this kind of interior conversion. She understood that holiness was not about looking extraordinary before others. It was about doing even the smallest things with great love and a sincere heart, especially when no one noticed.

Jesus is not asking us simply to look good. He wants to make us good from the inside out. When our hearts are filled with mercy, faithfulness, humility, and love, our actions will naturally begin to reflect them.

So let us ask ourselves today: Are we more concerned with how others see us, or with what God sees within us? What part of our heart are we being invited to allow Jesus to cleanse and transform? ๐ŸŒน

Relic visit of Blessed Michael J. McGivney Relic

On August 22, 2026, the National Shrine and Parish of St. Therese of the Child Jesus was blessed to welcome the relic of Blessed Michael J. McGivney, founder of the Knights of Columbus. Among the churches across the Diocese of Antipolo, our National Shrine was chosen as the venue for this special and grace-filled visit, a beautiful opportunity for the faithful to come together in prayer, devotion, and brotherhood.

May the presence of Blessed Michael J. McGivney inspire us to live out our faith with greater courage, charity, and service, following his example of love for God, family, and neighbor.

We give thanks to the Diocese of Antipolo Knights of Columbus for including our Shrine in this meaningful spiritual journey. May Blessed Michael J. McGivney continue to intercede for all Knights, their families, and the entire Church.

๐ŸŒน Daily Grace in the Little Way ๐ŸŒน

Nathanael begins this Gospel with doubt: โ€œCan anything good come from Nazareth?โ€ Philip does not argue with him or try to prove him wrong. He simply says, โ€œCome and see.โ€

That invitation changes everything.

When Nathanael approaches Jesus, he discovers something unexpected. Before Nathanael even knows who Jesus truly is, Jesus already knows him. โ€œBefore Philip called you, I saw you under the fig tree.โ€ Nathanael realizes that he is standing before Someone who sees beyond appearances and knows the truth of his heart.

Today, as we celebrate the Feast of Saint Bartholomew, Apostle, traditionally identified with Nathanael, we remember how this simple encounter became the beginning of discipleship. The man who first questioned whether anything good could come from Nazareth eventually professes, โ€œRabbi, you are the Son of God.โ€ His doubt becomes faith, and his encounter becomes a mission.

St. Therese also reminds us that following Jesus begins with trust. We do not need to understand everything before taking the next step. Sometimes we simply need to come and see, allowing God to reveal Himself through prayer, ordinary experiences, and the people He places in our lives.

And like Philip, our mission does not always require great speeches. Sometimes the most powerful thing we can do is simply help another person encounter Christ for themselves.

So let us ask ourselves: Are there doubts or assumptions keeping us from recognizing Jesus? And through the way we live today, can we invite someone else to โ€œcome and seeโ€ the goodness of God? ๐ŸŒน

๐ŸŒน Daily Grace in the Little Way ๐ŸŒน

Jesus warns us about a faith that looks impressive on the outside but is empty within. The scribes and Pharisees knew what to teach, yet Jesus points out the contradiction: โ€œThey preach but they do not practice.โ€

This Gospel challenges us to examine not only what we say we believe, but how we actually live. It is easy to speak about kindness, humility, forgiveness, and service. The real test comes when we have an opportunity to practice them, especially when nobody is watching.

Jesus then gives us a different understanding of greatness: โ€œThe greatest among you must be your servant.โ€ Todayโ€™s Memorial of the Queenship of the Blessed Virgin Mary gives us a beautiful example. Mary is honored as Queen not because she sought power or recognition, but because she humbled herself before God: โ€œBehold, I am the handmaid of the Lord.โ€ Her greatness was found in surrender, obedience, and service.

St. Therese followed this same path of littleness. Her Little Way teaches us that we do not need titles, attention, or extraordinary accomplishments to become great in God's eyes. We can quietly serve, forgive, encourage, and love, offering even the smallest acts to Him.

Mary our Queen points us toward a Kingdom where greatness is measured by how deeply we love and how willingly we serve.

So let us ask ourselves: Do our actions reflect the faith we profess? And when we are given authority, influence, or recognition, do we use it to elevate ourselves, or to serve and lift others? ๐ŸŒน

๐ŸŒน Daily Grace in the Little Way ๐ŸŒน

When Jesus is asked which commandment is the greatest, His answer is beautifully simple: love God with all our heart, soul, and mind, and love our neighbor as ourselves.

These two commandments belong together. Our love for God becomes real in the way we speak, forgive, serve, and care for the people around us. It is easy to love those who are good to us, but Jesus also calls us to love when patience, understanding, and forgiveness are difficult.

Today, as we commemorate Saint Pius X, Pope, we remember his desire to bring people closer to Christ, especially through the Eucharist. His motto, โ€œTo restore all things in Christ,โ€ reminds us that Christ must be at the center of everything we do. When our hearts are rooted in Him, our love for others becomes an expression of our love for God.

St. Therese lived this same truth through her Little Way. She showed that love does not always require extraordinary acts. A smile, a patient response, a hidden sacrifice, forgiveness, or a simple act of kindness can become an offering to God when done with love.

Perhaps holiness begins exactly there: loving God wholeheartedly and allowing that love to reach the person beside us.

So let us ask ourselves: If Christ is truly at the center of our lives, can people recognize His love through the way we treat them today? ๐ŸŒน

๐ŸŒน Daily Grace in the Little Way ๐ŸŒน

Jesus describes the Kingdom of heaven as a wedding feast already prepared. Everything is ready, yet many of those invited refuse to come. Some are simply too occupied with their farms, businesses, and everyday concerns.

We can easily find ourselves doing the same. God continually invites us into deeper prayer, conversion, service, and relationship with Him, but we sometimes answer, โ€œLater.โ€ We become so busy with what seems urgent that we overlook what truly matters.

Yet the king does not close the doors. He sends his servants into the streets, saying, โ€œInvite to the feast whomever you find.โ€ This reveals the generosity of God's heart. His invitation is not reserved for the perfect or important. There is a place at His table for everyone willing to respond.

As we commemorate Saint Bernard, Abbot and Doctor of the Church, we remember a man whose life was centered on seeking God with an undivided heart. Through prayer, contemplation, preaching, and his deep devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary, St. Bernard continually called people away from distractions and back to Christ. His life reminds us that accepting God's invitation is more than simply hearing His call. We must allow that call to change us.

This connects beautifully with St. Therese's Little Way. We do not have to wait for an extraordinary moment to say yes to God. We answer His invitation in the ordinary moments of our day: through prayer, patience, forgiveness, sacrifice, and little acts of love.

God's banquet is ready. The invitation has already been given.

So let us ask ourselves: What is keeping us too busy to respond fully to God? And if He is inviting us today to come closer, what do we need to leave behind so we can truly say, โ€œYes, Lord, I am comingโ€? ๐ŸŒน

๐ŸŒน Daily Grace in the Little Way ๐ŸŒน

Jesus tells us about laborers who enter the vineyard at different times. Some work from dawn, while others arrive only near the end of the day. Yet when evening comes, the landowner gives each of them the same wage.

Those who worked longer begin to complain. They are no longer looking at what they received. Instead, they are looking at what someone else received.

How often do we do the same? We compare our lives, opportunities, recognition, blessings, and even our struggles with those of others. We may quietly ask, โ€œWhy did they receive that when I have worked harder?โ€ Comparison can make us forget that what God gives us is already a gift.

The landowner asks a powerful question: โ€œAre you envious because I am generous?โ€ God's generosity does not take anything away from us. Another person's blessing is not our loss. His grace is not limited, and His love cannot be measured by who received more or who arrived first.

St. Therese understood this beautifully. She compared souls to different kinds of flowers in God's garden. A rose and a little wildflower are different, yet both reveal God's beauty. She learned to be content with being the โ€œlittle flowerโ€ God created her to be rather than wishing to become someone else.

Perhaps this Gospel invites us to stop measuring our lives against one another and start recognizing God's goodness in each person's story.

Can we be grateful for what God has given us while genuinely rejoicing when He is generous to someone else? Or has comparison made it difficult for us to see how generous He has already been to us? ๐ŸŒน
