Candon City, Ilocos Sur โ A young chess player made her mark among Region 1โs finest athletes during the recently concluded Region 1 Athletic Association (R1AA) Meet 2026, held from April 5 to 11.
Elisha Mae D. Ordizo, a kabataan from the Sadsaran Chapter of the Pangasinan Archdiocese, represented the Schools Division Office (SDO) of Alaminos City in the week-long competition. Demonstrating focus, discipline, and strategic thinking, Ordizo stood out in the chess tournamentโproving that passion and precision can speak volumes even in a silent game.
She delivered an impressive performance by securing two silver medals in the Individual Rapid and Secondary Girls Individual Standard chess categories. Her composed gameplay and sharp decision-making distinguished her from other top young athletes across the region.
With this achievement, Ordizo earned a spot in the Palarong Pambansa 2026, set to be held in Agusan del Sur, where she will represent Region 1 in chess and compete against the countryโs top young players.
The Sadsaran Chapter expressed pride and support for Ordizo, recognizing her achievement as a testament to dedication, perseverance, and faith.
As she prepares for the national competition, Ordizo carries not only the banner of her region but also the hopes and inspiration of her community.
