PENTECOST AND THE DIVINE MERCY CHAPLET PRAYER MARATHON - 2026
The Pre-Diaconate, Pastoral and the Spiritual Year Seminarians have done a Divine Mercy Chaplet Prayer Marathon from Easter Sunday to Pentecost Sunday. Fr. Shanthi and Fr. Jeffrey also joined with them in the Prayer Marathon. The target of the Divine Mercy Chaplet Prayer Marathon was that 15,000 to 16,000 times pray the Divine Mercy Chaplet during this timeframe of Easter Season.
The specific intention of the Prayer Marathon has been praying for the Archdiocese of Rabaul that is primarily praying for the Archbishop, all the priests and religious, every family and for every baptized person; to establish proper pastoral care structure for the papa’s, mama’s, couples living together without the Sacrament of Marriage and the single parents’, youth, Confirmed Personnel groups; and to establish the Parish Vocation Supportive group, Parish Finance Council and Parish Pastoral Council at every parish in an effective and fruitful manner.
Each person, personally responsible for praying the Divine Mercy Chaplet prayer everyday as much as he can according to his available time. Everyday each person reports and registers his number of praying the Divine Mercy Chaplet prayer. So we have a written record of every day that the number of each person and the total number of each day. Archbishop has given permission in a very generous way.
On Pentecost Sunday we had a Solemn Evening Prayer presided by our Archbishop. He has given us an inspiring message and after delivering his message each Seminarian presented to him the total number of his Divine Mercy Chaplet prayers. All of them could say around
21,627 Divine Mercy Chaplet prayers during the Prayer Marathon. After receiving the number of Chaplet prayers Archbishop has made a prayer and a blessing to all.
Several of the Seminarians expressed their experiences saying that they could gain proper concentration, focus, time management and they could sincerely pray through the participation in the Prayer Marathon although at the beginning there were struggles and difficulties.
Through the experiences of these seminarians, gradually we may engage with different groups of the parishes to do the Prayer Marathon with the Rosary prayer, novena prayer to St. Peter ToRot or to Our Lady of Perpetual Help etc….. When we cry to God with our intention in a truthful manner definitely God takes control on everything and we will experience peace, joy, happiness and justice proper in the individual life, family life, community life, Parish life and at the society large…..
