📖 Honouring Our Rich Heritage

Truly blessed to listen to Elder Dr. Mari Apana, a devoted man of God, as he shared the inspiring history of Boroko United Church.

From its origins through the North Queensland Presbyterian Church, to the official opening of the Boroko church building in 1961, and its remarkable journey through to 2026, we celebrate 65 years of God's faithfulness, spiritual growth, and dedicated Christian service.

As we reflect on the sacrifices and vision of our pioneers, may we continue to build on their legacy—strengthening our faith, serving our communities, and passing on the Gospel to future generations.

📢 MULTI PURPOSE CENTRE (MPC) FUNDRAISING UPDATE

Elder Hoi hard at work preparing and organising invitation envelopes for distribution to all Ministries, Provincial Groups, and Fellowship Groups in support of our Multi Purpose Centre (MPC) Fundraising Dinner.

MPC Building Fundraising:
RSKMC has embarked on an ambitious and transformative project to construct a modern Multi-Purpose Centre (MPC) within the church grounds. This facility will serve as a community hub for worship, conferences, youth development, educational activities, community outreach programs, and public events.
The proposed two-level facility will provide:
• A conference and meeting venue with seating capacity for more than 500 people;
• A cafeteria and kitchen facility supporting catering and community enterprises;
• Training and meeting spaces for youth, women, men's ministries, and community groups;
• Educational facilities including classrooms for Early Childhood Development programs;
• Improved accessibility for people living with disabilities;
• Opportunities for skills development, employment, and community engagement.
This important project reflects our commitment to serving future generations while contributing to the social, spiritual, and community development of our nation.

The Reverend Sione Kami Memorial Church Launches Corporate Fundraising Dinner for Multi-Purpose Centre Project
The Reverend Sione Kami Memorial Church (RSKMC), one of the largest congregations (5000 members) within the United Church of Papua New Guinea, is organising a Corporate Fundraising Dinner in support of the construction of its landmark Multi-Purpose Centre (MPC) Project.
The fundraising dinner will be held on:

Building a Legacy for Future Generations
Formerly known as Boroko United Church, Reverend Sione Kami Memorial Church was renamed in 1999 in honour of the late Reverend Sione Kami of Tonga, who faithfully served the congregation and made a significant contribution to the spiritual growth of the church.
Today, the church continues that legacy through its vision to develop a modern Multi-Purpose Centre that will serve as a hub for worship, learning, community development, and social empowerment.
The proposed two-level facility will provide:

• A cafeteria and commercial kitchen facility supporting catering services;

Pledgecard K100 or K1000, A pledge in the Multi-Purpose Centre prokect, is a formal commitment. Through your financial donation, ensures the Multi-Purpose Centre Project will go ahead. Its foundational tool to align a significant infrastructure development project—the construction of a Multi-Purpose Centre (MPC)—to better serve its congregation, the wider community, and the nation.
Through your financial support towards this important national and community development project. The proposed Multi-Purpose Centre is a two-level facility designed to accommodate a wide range of community, church, and national activities.
Ground Floor:
• Large open hall (500+ seating capacity) for conferences, meetings, and community events
• Kitchen and cafeteria facilities for catering and hospitality training
• Classroom for Early Childhood Development Centre (ECDC), including restrooms and sickbay
• Accessible ramps for persons with disabilities
Level 1:
• Administrative offices for church operations
• Boardroom and meeting spaces
• Counselling and pastoral care offices
Level 2:
• Training and conference rooms (flexible partitions)
• Counselling rooms and additional meeting spaces
• Facilities equipped with presentation systems and communication infrastructure
4. Community Impact and Programs
The MPC will support a wide range of programs aimed at community empowerment and development, including:
• Women and Youth Empowerment Programs
• Early Childhood Development Education
• Counselling and Mental Health Support Services
• Financial Literacy and SME Training
