📢ATTENTION YOUNG PEOPLE! | As Papua New Guinea prepares for the 2027 National General Elections, one critical question stands before us: Are our young people ready to participate meaningfully in the democratic process?

The Youth Against Corruption Association (YACA), in partnership with Transparency International PNG, the PNG Electoral Commission and the Youth in Elections PNG are jointly hosting a Youth Forum.

🎙️Guest Speaker: The NCD Electoral Manager will be providing direct insights on the electoral process and answer your questions.
Under the theme "2027 Starts With Us – Your Role as Youth in the National General Elections," this forum is a welcoming space for all youth—whether you are a student, a community leader, or a first-time voter - this is your platform to learn and engage.

MT HAGEN CITY CEMETERY YOUTHS ASSOCIATION INC. READY TO ASSIST WITH UNCLAIMED BODIES

The Mt Hagen City Cemetery Youths Association Inc. has expressed its willingness to assist the Western Highlands Provincial Health Authority in conducting proper burials for unclaimed bodies currently kept at the Mt Hagen General Hospital morgue.

According to reports, several bodies have remained unclaimed for years, creating concern for health authorities and the community. In response, the association stated that it is prepared to support burial arrangements at the Mt Hagen City Cemetery in a respectful and organized manner.

Association representatives said that in 2016, the group carried out a mass burial of 16 unclaimed bodies in partnership with the Western Highlands Provincial Health Authority. The association says the experience has prepared them to continue supporting the province in addressing similar situations today.

The group also confirmed that the Mt Hagen City Cemetery Youths Association Inc. is now officially registered under IPA and committed to serving the community through cemetery maintenance, burial assistance, and humanitarian support.

The association is now calling on relevant authorities, leaders, and community members to work together in ensuring that unclaimed bodies are laid to rest with dignity and respect. Our aim is to beautify the City Cemetery, by respecting the dead ones as how they were respected when they were alive like us.

In 2016, we the Mt Hagen City Cemetery Youths Association Inc. did a Mess burial of unclaimed body,total of 16 dead bodies. Western Highlands Provincial Health Authority . Right now we are registered under IPA and willing to do burial for the unclaimed bodies at the Mt Hagen City Cemetery . Thank you.

NINE bodies, mostly in decomposing state, are placed in body bags and awaiting relatives to claim them from the Mt Hagen General Hospital’s morgue in Western Highlands, according officials yesterday.

Western Highlands Health Authority chief executive officer, Dr Jonah Kurubi said some of the bodies have been kept at the morgue since 2020.

|Treasury Approves K411 Million for Western Highlands Budget

Minister for Treasury Ian Ling-Stuckey has approved a total of K411 million for the 2026 budget of the Western Highlands Provincial Government.

The funding is expected to support key development priorities across Western Highlands Province, including infrastructure, health, education, and rural service delivery.

Officials say the approval will enable the province to roll out its planned programs for the year, with a strong focus on improving living standards and expanding services to communities.

The move reinforces the national government’s commitment to supporting provincial development and ensuring funds are allocated to areas with critical needs.

Leaders have emphasised the importance of proper implementation and accountability to ensure the budget delivers real benefits to the people of Papua New Guinea.
