Equipping Our Team to Save Lives: Joint First Aid & CPR Training 🚁🩹

At Adventist Aviation Services (AAS), safety and service are at the core of everything we do. Team members from the AAS PNG, along with staff from the Pacific Helicopters, had a First Aid and CPR training session at the Pacific Gardens Hotel in Goroka.

The practical training was conducted by Pius Letenge, Founder and Managing Director of Instruction CPRplus+ (PNG) Limited.

During the session, participants refreshed their knowledge and gained hands-on skills in crucial life-saving procedures:

1 - Emergency Action Principles: Mastering the DRSABCD protocol and prioritizing assessment of a casualty’s mental status, breathing, and circulation before applying treatment.

2 - Basic Life Support: Effective techniques for Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and understanding the critical steps in the Chain of Survival.

3 - Emergency Response: Correct positioning, patient care, and compression techniques for medical emergencies such as cardiac arrest, heart attack, stroke, fainting, drowning, chest pain, and snake bites.

In any emergency, immediate action during the initial critical minutes before professional medical help arrives can make all the difference. Basic First Aid and CPR skills empower individuals to act swiftly and confidently—turning bystanders into life-savers.

Whether transporting local farmers' produce from remote airstrips, providing routine air services, or conducting life-saving medical evacuations (medevacs), our operational readiness depends on a well-trained team.

Continuous training ensures that our staff is prepared to respond safely both in the air and on the ground—supporting our mission to serve the people of Papua New Guinea.

PARTNERING FOR PROGRESS

We are thrilled to announce a new partnership between the Australian Government, through the Building Community Engagement Program (BCEP), and Adventist Aviation Services (AAS), which was launched this past Thursday, 25 June 2026, in Lae.

This milestone collaboration strengthens our shared commitment to delivering life-saving health services, humanitarian aid, and vital resources to the most isolated corners of Papua New Guinea. For over 60 years, AAS has served as a critical lifeline where roads do not go. Now, with Australia’s strategic investment and the structural support of BCEP, we are poised to scale our operational capabilities to new heights.

The launch event was a memorable and deeply significant occasion, brought together by key leadership and community pillars. We were deeply honored by the presence of:

1. Mr. Craig Gillies, Australian High Commission Counsellor, and his delegation.
2. Pr. Danny Philip, President of the Papua New Guinea Union Mission (PNGUM) of the Adventist Church.
3. Hon. Jason Peter, MP, Member for Huon Gulf District.
4. Mr. Mark Neah, CEO of Adventist Aviation Services (AAS) PNG.
5. Representatives from local Church Missions, our dedicated AAS staff, and church communities across Lae City.

Beyond emergency medical evacuations, this collaboration will directly boost rural economic activities—air-linking remote farmers to commercial markets, transforming village economies, and unlocking a sustainable future for the families we serve.

After 8 incredible years, we say farewell to our Accountant, Akuno Rodney. You joined us as a young, single man, and somewhere between balancing the books and chasing missing receipts, we’ve had the pleasure of celebrating your marriage, welcoming your beautiful wife Dorea and seeing your family grow. We were there to celebrate it all.
(though we’re still waiting for a financial report on how much we spent at your wedding. )
Big thanks to Dorea and your little ones for graciously sharing you with us, all these years, especially when those long late hours in the office kept you away.
More than just keeping our finances in check (and reminding us that budgets actually exist), you took on extra tasks like a true team player. Let’s be honest, in any workplace, "other duties as assigned" is a real thing. Your dedication, patience, and the way you’ve handled everything will be missed.
While we’re sad to see you go, we’re excited for the new chapter ahead of you. Wishing you, Dorea, and the kids nothing but the best.
