Tribute to the Late Papa Andrew Waliman
Today, I stand in deep reflection and gratitude as we celebrate the life of a true man of God Papa Andrew Waliman. A man of wisdom and grace, humble in speech yet powerful in counsel. Every word he spoke carried wisdom, and every act he performed reflected the love and character of Christ.
Papa Andrew was a giver one who gave without question, without hesitation, and always from a heart full of compassion. For more than twenty years, he faithfully served in our congregation, not only as a member but as a pillar of faith and strength. He was our Building Committee Chairman, a man whose faith moved mountains and whose hands helped shape what we now call Debeini’s Living Water Ministry.
It was through his steadfast prayers, fasting, and unwavering commitment with Pastors and congregation members that we witnessed one of the greatest miracles in the history of our ministry the building of our church. It stands today as a testimony of God’s divine favor, built by a Chinese businessman who said, “I will build your church with my money, and you will pay me later with no interest.” This miracle came to pass through the prayers and faith of men like Papa Andrew.
He was a man who always had time for everyone young or old, rich or poor. He gave his strength to the work of God, his wisdom to the next generation, and his heart to the ministry. Truly, he was one of the last fathers who stood with me through thick and thin, through challenges and victories alike.
Papa Andrew now joins the other faithful servants Late Papa Noah Tonove and Late Papa Jacob Rongap who have gone before him. Their race is complete, their crowns await them, and their legacy continues to inspire us who remain.
Though our hearts grieve, our spirits rejoice for we know that Papa Andrew has finished his race and now rests in the glorious presence of our Lord. His work on earth is done, but his impact will live on in the walls of our church, in the lives he touched, and in the faith he helped build.
Rest well, Papa Andrew. You have fought the good fight, you have finished the race, and you have kept the faith. We will miss your wisdom, your laughter, your prayers, and your fatherly guidance but we will continue the work you began, until we meet again in the presence of the Lord.
“Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of His saints.” Psalm 116:15
