Pruetts in Peru

Though we have made it to the States safely, our hearts are still with Perú. Tomorrow is a big day for the country as they vote for president. After narrowing down 36 candidates to 2 in April, whispers of scandal caused a brief pause in learning who those 2 ultimately were. Tomorrow they vote either Sanchez or Keiko. Both not Christians, both with their own agenda. We pray for Perú and the decisions to be made tomorrow. Will you pray with us??

When we surrendered to serve Perú in 2010 until right now, Perú has had 9 presidents (a total of 16 years, with 5 year presidential terms). This shows the extreme change over, as they are about to elect the 10th president within our time serving. We don't know what will change but this article gives a brief overview of each party's desires.

We pray the Lord works mightily at this time.

Keiko Fujimori and Roberto Sánchez will compete in a polarizing runoff on June 7, with crime and protracted political instability top of mind for voters.

It has been two weeks since we have been back in the States. We have a lot to be thankful for! We had very safe travels. God allowed us to have a direct flight and only come back with 3 suitcases each ( and one extra).

We are blessed dearly by the church we are helping. Since we sold everything before arriving, we are now in the process of collecting the necessities for being here. We have a place to stay. We have been blessed with many kitchen items (so thankful for that!)

Unfortunately, the last couple of days have been adventurous. Poor Ezra caught not just the flu (influenza A), but also the Rotavirus. We are so thankful for the insurance we were able to put the kids on right as we got back. We had to take him into the ER from a non-reducing 24 fever and hallucinations. Thankfully, he received treatment quickly and is slowly on the mend. Please pray with us that no one else catches it and he can recover completely soon.

Today is election day! Perú is voting for their 9th president in a decade. We pray for peace while the voting happens and rest in this country. We pray for leadership to come to know the Lord and the crime rates to lower in every area of Perú. We pray for safety and protections as we wait to see who the Lord puts in this difficult position. 35 candiates and only 1 position.

Few expect the vote to resolve the political instability that has plagued the country for years. Three presidents have come and gone since 2021.

Preparing for long term furlough is not for the faint of heart! We keep running into difficult situations that test our hearts. Yet again learning about another situation of us being taken advantage of. For the last two years we paid someone to maintain our asociación (it is like an NGO here in country). We just received documentation stating that he did not maintain it. We had been using it with the understanding we were in a process of legal changes, so it would fit more of what we needed. Unfortunately, he didn't do anything and our "waiting" has locked our account. It has put us in a very difficult situation trying to figure out what to do to get it fixed. Please pray for wisdom and the Lord to intercede for us in this legal matter.

Please also pray for us as a family. Our hearts hurt every time we run into these situations and they seem to be coming more often lately.

On a good note:
Teresa was very excited to meet another Trauma Healing worker today, who trained in Venezuela. Yesterday, she learned about another opportunity to lead more groups and even train leaders to bring the curriculum in their ministries. She even heard testimony of healing within a family, from one who participated in her class. The Lord is still working!

A lot has happened in the last 4 years... (I can't believe it has been 4 years. We need a furlough!)The end of January gives us a lot of memories. The month we decided to be missionaries. The month we originally arrived in Perú. The month we brought Isa with us after her birth. The month we returned after Covid (video below). This year we will celebrate 16 years of being full time missionaries. The events we have been through, stories we have, and battle scars we have collected. For those who have held our ropes throughout, thank you.

We are thankful for the birth of our Lord and Savior. As we end this year, we reflect on His beautiful plan of salvation through the birth of Jesus Christ. May you know the Lord and delight in this season of celebrating the birth of Jesus.
