Please note that it is possible that there may be compulsory evacuations that happen in your area - it is vital that you follow the advice of the emergency services.

Evacuation hubs remain open overnight:
• Kōraunui Stokes Valley Neighbourhood Hub
• Wainuiomata Neighbourhood Hub
• Walter Nash Centre (Taita)
• War Memorial Library (Central Hutt)
• Eastbourne Neighbourhood Hub

At these locations they provide:
• Tea and coffee
• Needs assessment
• A place to rest
• Device charging
• You can also bring your domestic pets with you

• Wainuiomata Marae is also activated for accommodation and food for evacuees. We will update you on activated hubs as they are confirmed.

Road closures remain in place, including:
• Harcourt Werry Drive
• Parts of Riverside Drive
• Port Road and Barnes Road
• Copeland Street area

The Samoan Chaplaincy successfully completed their Vaccination and Alcohol Harm workshop today. We extend our gratitude to Information NZ for providing this valuable program for our community.

We also thank all the Samoan Chaplaincy Aulotus, families, and friends who attended and supported this initiative.

Samoan Chaplaincy's New Year's Eve Samoan Mass was held on 31 December 2025 at Sacred Heart Cathedral.

We extend our gratitude to Father Pene for presiding over the Mass. Our appreciation also goes to Father Bill for his assistance to Father Pene.

A sincere thank you to the Samoan Aulotu from Newtown and Seatourn for leading us through singing and the preparation of all parts of the Mass. Malo tapena.

We also acknowledge and thank the families and friends from both near and far for your participation. Appreciation is also extended to all Presidents and all Samoan Chaplaincy Aulotus for your involvement.

We are grateful to the Catechists and their spouses for your vital contribution to the Samoan Chaplaincy.

Finally, a heartfelt thank you to the Samoan Chaplaincy Executive Committee for your dedicated effort.

We wish a safe and prosperous New Year to our Samoan Chaplaincy, as well as to our families and friends.
