St Anthony's Catholic Church, Waiuku

St Anthony's Catholic Church, Waiuku A country parish situated at the Southern end of the Manukau Heads.

It covers an area from the Manukau Heads to the Waikato River and to the East boarders on the Pukekohe parish. Originally populated by the Irish Catholic settlers it has today a more cosmopolitan population including Pacific Islanders, Asian and people from Africa who are warmly welcomed. We have a modern presbytery and a Church with facilities built in 1993 with a dedicated group of parishioners

who keep them and the ground well maintained and tidy. Others take responsibility for the Liturgical and sacramental life of the parish including the sacramental program and the RCIA (Right of Catholic Initiation of Adults). Social life of the parish is enhanced with morning tea after Mass and an occasional parish dinner. One of the longest running Catholic Womenโ€™s League in the diocese caters for the welfare of women, the elderly and the bereaved. A friendly caring parish endeavoring to live by the Gospels and the commandment to love one another as God has loved us.

This time tomorrow night, we will begin our 12 hour Vigil of Adoration at the Altar of Repose.

From the end of the Mass of the Lordโ€™s Supper, we are invited to remain with Our Lord, keeping watch with Him in prayer as He enters His agony in the Garden of Gethsemane. This is a sacred and quiet opportunity to simply be present, to sit, to pray, and to reflect in the presence of Christ.

Throughout the night, there will be some structured moments of prayer, including the recitation of the Rosary, a guided meditation on Gethsemane, and the Liturgy of the Hours (Compline, Matins, and Lauds). All other times will be kept as silent adoration. Details for these times can be found at the link below.

All are welcome to come at any time throughout the night.

To help us ensure that Our Lord is never left alone, we encourage you to register for a time slot. You are still very welcome to just turn up, but registering allows us to be aware of who will be present and when.

You can find the full schedule and sign up here:

โ€œCould you not watch one hour with me?โ€ (Matthew 26:40)

We look forward to keeping watch with you.

This is one of the rarest liturgical colors. It is only worn at the midpoint of Advent and Lent.

It is known as Laetare Sunday, a day of celebration and relaxation from the rigours of Lent.

Historically, this day was also called Mothering Sunday, a day to revisit the Church of one's baptism.

Reflect on your Lenten journey with joyful anticipation of Easter.
