Kaumātua lunch
Wow, what a buzz we created in Wadestown on Tuesday 12 August. Nearly 60 gathered at St Luke's to share hospitality and reignite connections over a light lunch. Everyone loved hearing John Steven's stories of life as a youngster in Wadestown in the war years. The feedback has been consistently positive - "an amazing job", "a great luncheon with an impressive speaker", "grateful thanks for a wonderful event", "lovely company", "loved the flowers", "everything so well done..."
Mary, John, Janet and Kerry want to thank St Luke's parishioners for contributing to the success of the luncheon and bringing your best selves to grace the occasion. We couldn't have done it without your help.
We are planning another luncheon next year - Thursday 12 March 2026 to be precise. We will be in touch closer to that time with more details...

St Luke's Bell - do you have memories to share
On Tuesday 24 June, the St Luke's Bell was taken to Ngatiawa River Monastery in the Reikorangi Valley on the Kapiti Coast. It will be installed there over the next few months. Kerry has offered to compile a virtual book of memories relating to the bell. The book will be handed over to the Monastery as part of a formal handover ceremony in coming months.
If you have memories or stories or photos relating to the bell can you please jot them down and send or pass them to Kerry by 2 July. You might remember ringing or hearing the Bell's F sharp note over 4 decades from 1962 to 2004, or trying to lift it...
The bell was commissioned by Rachel Baskerville's grandparents, Edward Charles and Caroline Emily Rowe, in 1962. It was made in England and weighs over 100kg.
Please get in touch with Kerry with your recollections of this part of St Luke's history. Cell 0273271016 or email [email protected]
