Celebrating 25 Years of Caring for Seafarers.

Revd Iain Dickson, chaplain/manager of the United Seafarers' Mission, will be speaking at Encore on March 10th, 1.30pm, about the vital work being done to support seafarers visiting our port.

For a quarter of a century, the United Seafarers' Mission has served as an ecumenical partnership, bringing together Stella Maris, the Galilee Mission, and the Mission to Seafarers, to offer friendship, practical help, and a home-away-from-home for seafarers from around the world.

Come and hear stories from the front line of this unique ministry, learn about the volunteers who make it all possible, and discover how you can be part of this rewarding work.

💃 Tazmyn Newman – A professional dancer who will not only perform for us but also share insights from her life and adventures working aboard cruise ships around the world.

It’s going to be a fun and inspiring afternoon filled with stories, movement, and heart.

Guest Speaker: Aisha Te Kani

Join us at Encore for a truly inspiring afternoon as we welcome guest speaker Aisha Te Kani, a woman whose story is as unique as it is powerful.

Born with a rare condition called ectopia cordis—with her heart outside her body—Aisha is the only known New Zealander with this condition. Her journey of faith, courage, and resilience began early, speaking publicly for the first time at just 12 years old.

Now an accomplished speaker who has shared her story across New Zealand and internationally, Aisha uses her life experience to encourage and uplift others, reminding us all that we can live with purpose and hope—no matter our circumstances.

You’ll be deeply moved and encouraged by her testimony.

Join us for Encore tomorrow - Tuesday, 9 September, from 1:30–3:00 PM at Bethlehem Baptist Church for an inspiring afternoon with guest speaker Noeline Campbell.

Noeline will be sharing about her recent donor’s trip to Ethiopia with the NZ branch of the Catherine Hamlin Fistula Foundation – a charity committed to restoring dignity and health to women suffering from obstetric fistula.

The purpose of the trip was to give donors firsthand insight into the Foundation’s life-changing work. Noeline will also share about the incredible experience of visiting tribal communities, walking through villages, homes, and schools, and witnessing both the challenges and the hope present in these communities.

This will be a thought-provoking and encouraging session—come along and bring a friend!

This month we’re screening the powerful documentary Bringing My Brother Back to Life – the true story of 12-year-old O’Connor Buckley’s miraculous recovery after a motorbike accident that left him in a coma and claimed his father’s life.

Filmed by his sister Michaela and supported by filmmakers Rob Harley and Anna McKessar, this is a moving story of family, faith, and hope in the face of tragedy.

Prue leads two amazing initiatives – Tipu Skills For Life and Upside Mentoring – both focused on supporting and empowering young people aged 9–11. Our guest speaker will be Igor Gerritsen, a man with a rich and varied background—from policing and pastoring to financial planning and mental health advocacy. Igor currently coaches business leaders through alks and serves on the charitable trust Goodyarn, a mental health literacy programme that has upskilled over 20,000 people across Aotearoa.

He’ll be sharing practical insights and wisdom for those navigating the ‘third age’ of life, including helpful financial tips and tools for emotional wellbeing.
