Do you have a heart for supporting children and young people through times of change, loss, or grief?

Seasons for Growth is an evidence‑based program that strengthens emotional and mental wellbeing. Using the imagery of the seasons, it helps young people understand that change and loss are a natural part of life, and that they are not alone.

As a trained Companion, you’ll guide small groups in safe, supportive spaces where participants learn communication, decision‑making, and problem‑solving skills to build resilience.

👩‍🏫 Training is open to teachers, pastoral care workers, youth leaders, social workers, community volunteers and others who want to make a difference.
📅 Companion training runs over two consecutive days (face‑to‑face or online).
📞 To learn more or register, contact Justine (Coordinator – Wairarapa) at [email protected].

Help bring this life changing program to our community.

🔥 Pentecost Sunday – Tomorrow at St Mark’s 🔥

This Sunday we celebrate one of the great festivals of the church year—Pentecost—the day the Holy Spirit came upon the disciples and the church was filled with new life, courage, and voice.

Join us tomorrow at 9:30am for a special Eucharist service as we mark this significant day together.

❤️ Please wear something red to help us celebrate the fire and presence of the Holy Spirit among us.

🌍 During the service, we’ll also share the Lord’s Prayer in different languages, reflecting the many voices and people brought together through the Spirit. If you can read or recite the Lord’s Prayer in a language other than English, please bring what you need and join in.

🎶 To mark the occasion, a singing group will also share two songs during communion.

Pentecost reminds us that the Spirit moves through all people, all languages, and all generations—bringing life, unity, and hope.

All are welcome.

There’s something special about sitting around a table, sharing food, and taking time to be with one another. In the busyness of life, these simple moments can become places of connection, laughter, and belonging.

Our monthly parish shared meal is coming up, and you’re warmly invited to be part of it.

🕠 5:30–7:00pm
📍 Church Hall

Bring along a dish to share—whether a main course or dessert—and pull up a chair. There’s no rush, no formality… just good food and conversation around the table.

It’s a chance to meet new people, hear each other’s stories, and grow together as a community.

💬 What’s a dish you love sharing with others?

All are welcome—we’d love to see you there.

Join us this Sunday as we gather for worship in two different settings—each offering a meaningful way to pause, reflect, and connect.

8:00am – Church
A traditional service in the church, with the sermon reflecting on Jesus’ words: “I am the way, the truth, and the life” (John 14:6). A quiet and reflective way to begin the day.

9:30am – Café Church (Hall)
A relaxed and welcoming service for all ages. Gather around tables, enjoy coffee, tea, and something to eat, as we reflect on the theme “At home in God’s heart.” Whether you’re exploring faith or simply looking for a space to connect, Café Church offers a gentle and informal way to be part of worship together.

Whichever service you come to, there is space for you here. We’d love to welcome you.

Our monthly Car Boot Sale returns on Saturday 2 May, 9am to12 noon—and this one’s a good one!

We’ve got an amazing collection of winter clothing, boots, and cosy finds just in time for the colder weather, along with all the favourites—plants, books, baked goodies, and plenty of bric-a-brac to browse.

It’s the kind of morning where you come for a quick look… and end up staying for a good wander, a chat, and maybe a hidden treasure or two.

💬 What’s the best thing you’ve ever found at our car boot sale? Tell us in the comments!

Today’s Reading: John 10:11–18

In this passage, Jesus describes Himself as the Good Shepherd—one who knows His sheep, stays with them, and is willing to lay down His life for them.

It’s a picture of care that doesn’t walk away when things get difficult, of a love that is steady and personal. Not distant or conditional, but present and committed.

As you spend a moment with this reading today, consider what it means to be known and held in that kind of love—and how that might shape the way you live and respond to others.

💬 What stands out to you from this image of the Good Shepherd?

No one has greater love than this, to lay down one’s life for one’s friends (John 15:13).

This ANZAC weekend, as we remember all those who served, and who continue to serve, in our nation, let us pray too for lasting peace in our troubled world.
