May has been an incredible month of community! This month we joined with many others all across the country raising money for the annual Red shield appeal, where incredible people donate time, and koha to support people all over Aotearoa. Every dollar raised sows into the wonderful mahi of The Salvation Army supporting friends, families and tamariki who need support.

This year Flat Bush raised a whopping 256% over target! While we celebrate every penny donated to see whānau continue to be supported, we celebrate the movement of the Holy Spirit touching peoples hearts.

This month, the Flat Bush Food Bank was incredibly blessed to receive 200 kai parcels through the ‘Family 2 Family’ initiative from New World Ormiston.

We are incredibly grateful for this beautiful expression of community collaboration and partnership as we come together to support the wider community of Flat Bush through kai.

Throughout the last 5 months Flat Bush Corps has been quietly and faithfully at work in the community surrounding us. Check out some of the things we have been celebrating in the short yet speedy five months:

▪️The opening, blessing and whakawatea of Kaitiakitanga social housing stage two.

▪️Collaboration with Manakau corps in facilitating spaces for young people and rangitahi, including a beautiful easter celebration for our young people! We are incredibly greatful for this relationship that helped direct us.

For the past three and a half years, the social media pages of The Salvation Army Flat Bush have been quiet — but the heart of our mission has never stopped beating.

Behind the scenes, God has continued moving through conversations, community, prayer, support, hope, and faithful presence in Flat Bush. And now, as a new season begins, we’re excited to reintroduce ourselves with fresh vision and a renewed desire to follow the heart of Christ in our community.

As new leadership steps in, our prayer is simple: to love people well, serve authentically, walk alongside our neighbours, and reflect the hope and compassion of Jesus in practical ways.

This page will become a place to share stories, encouragement, community moments, faith, and opportunities to connect and journey together.
