Beyond Relief — A Prayer for Restoration, Hope, and a Future
My heart is deeply broken and burdened as I think about the families and communities affected by this tragedy—from Rasuwa and Trishuli to every remote place where lives have been disrupted, homes have been lost, and hopes have been shaken.
In some of the more accessible areas, immediate relief has begun to reach the affected people. Yet, many families in remote and difficult-to-reach places are still struggling because roads and access have been destroyed. Reaching them remains a tremendous challenge. Even with the efforts of government security forces and helicopters, only limited assistance can reach some of these isolated communities.
And this is what deeply troubles my heart.
The relief being provided today is necessary—but it is only immediate relief. The greater question is: what happens to these people tomorrow?
What about the families who have lost their homes?
What about those who have lost their livelihoods and land?
Where will they live permanently?
How will they rebuild their lives with safety, dignity, and hope?
These questions have been occupying my heart and filling my thoughts with deep concern.
I believe our responsibility must go beyond responding to the immediate crisis. We must begin to think about restoration—safe and sustainable resettlement, rebuilding livelihoods, protecting families, and creating a future where affected communities can once again live with dignity and hope.
As Scripture reminds us:
“Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.” — Galatians 6:2
May we not allow these families to become forgotten once the headlines fade and the immediate relief efforts slow down. Their journey of recovery will not end when the food, blankets, and emergency supplies arrive. For many, that will only be the beginning of a much longer journey toward rebuilding their lives.
My prayer is that God will open ways where there seem to be no ways, strengthen those who are serving, protect those who are vulnerable, and move the hearts of individuals, churches, organizations, and authorities to remain committed to these communities—not only for today, but for the days and years ahead.
“The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.” — Psalm 34:18
May God comfort every grieving family.
May He strengthen every displaced person.
May He make a way for those who are still unreachable.
May He provide wisdom for long-term resettlement and restoration.
And may no affected community—from Rasuwa and Trishuli to every remote and forgotten place—be left behind.
Let us not only help them survive this tragedy. Let us stand with them until they can rebuild, recover, and hope again.
🙏 May God have mercy on our nation and bring healing, restoration, and lasting hope to every life affected.
