Today, on this special occasion, we offer our deepest gratitude to this extraordinary soul, Prabhavishnu Maharaj. His life is a testament to the transformative power of love and devotion. We invite all our life members, well-wishers, and the devotee community to join us in celebrating this day with the utmost reverence and love.

It is crucial to know more about our spiritual leaders. Here is a brief overview of Prabhavishnu Maharaj and his contributions to the people of Nepal:

Born in Belfast, Ireland, in 1950, Prabhavishnu Swami's spiritual journey began in 1971 when he met his revered spiritual master, His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada, in London. Inspired by Srila Prabhupada, Prabhavishnu Maharaj dedicated his life to spreading the sankirtana movement of Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu.

Throughout his incredible journey, Prabhavishnu Maharaj served as the temple president of Bhaktivedanta Manor near London and later as the temple president at the Bombay, Juhu Beach center in India. He played a pivotal role in establishing Krishna consciousness centers across India, Bangladesh, Nepal, Europe, Australia, and the Pacific. In 1979, he embraced the renounced order of life, wholeheartedly dedicating himself to global Krishna consciousness preaching.

A significant moment in the history of Krishna consciousness in Nepal was a historic room conversation between Srila Prabhupada and Prabhavishnu Maharaj in Vrindavan on August 10, 1977. Srila Prabhupada recognized Prabhavishnu Maharaj's mood and intention and thus rightly praised him: "You have the courage of an Englishman and the heart of a Bengali mother." Srila Prabhupada instructed him to "establish the stronghold of Krishna consciousness in Nepal" and "expand the empire of consciousness in Nepal." Together with Mahavishnu Swami Maharaj and other early devotees, they started a small center in Battisputali in a rented place. Our elder Nepali members remember how they were amazed to see white foreigners in saffron robes with mridanga and accordion in the streets of Basantapur, approaching almost every shop owner, official, and pedestrian to embrace this Vedic Sanatan culture rooted in the teachings of Bhagavad Gita as it is, which was shadowed by casteism, Western influence, drugs, and movies. Indeed, those were hard times, and they suffered a lot, but all their contributions have not gone in vain. Half a century later, the seeds sown during those days have borne fruit; ISKCON in Nepal today has more than 50 flourishing centers, attracting thousands of spiritual seekers every week. ISKCON Nepal has initiated numerous community projects, including Harinam groups, food relief projects, goshala (cow-care projects), schools, restaurants, and a hospital.

For those who know him, he is a genuine follower of Srila Prabhupada, a great teacher of this philosophy, a kirtanist who can touch your heart with the Mahamantra. His soul-stirring kirtans have the power to transport you to the spiritual realm, filling your heart with divine ecstasy.

He is a highly capable, fearlessly visionary leader. Yet, despite his immense achievements, he remains a humble soul, approachable to all who seek his guidance. Prabhavishnu Maharaj's heart is a treasure trove of love and devotion to Lord Krishna. His love and care for the devotee community know no bounds. He is a spiritual mentor, a friend, and a guardian to all who are fortunate enough to know him. In his association, you will find not only wisdom but also shelter, protection, and solace, for he has the rare ability to make you feel loved and cherished.

Today, on this special occasion, we express our deepest gratitude at the lotus feet of dear Prabhavishnu Maharaj, an empowered general of Srila Prabhupada.

Śrīla Bhaktivinoda Ṭhākura Appearance Day

Today, on this most auspicious occasion, we remember and offer our humble obeisances to Śrīla Bhaktivinoda Ṭhākura, a great ācārya in the disciplic succession of Lord Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu.

Śrīla Bhaktivinoda Ṭhākura rendered extraordinary service in reviving and spreading the teachings of Lord Caitanya. Through his writings, preaching and exemplary devotional life, he inspired countless souls to take shelter of the Hare Kṛṣṇa Mahā-mantra and engage in pure devotional service.

On his auspicious appearance day, let us sincerely pray for his mercy so that we may develop faith, humility and determination in the service of Śrī Guru, the Vaiṣṇavas and Śrī Śrī Rādhā-Kṛṣṇa.

भृशममर्षरोषावेशरभसविलसितभ्रुकुटिविटपकुटिलदंष्ट्रारुणेक्षणाटोपातिभयानकवदना हन्तुकामेवेदं महाट्टहासमतिसंरम्भेण विमुञ्चन्ती तत उत्पत्य पापीयसां दुष्टानां तेनैवासिना विवृक्णशीर्ष्णां गलात्स्रवन्तमसृगासवमत्युष्णं सह गणेन निपीयातिपानमदविह्वलोच्चैस्तरां स्वपार्षदै: सह जगौ ननर्त च विजहार च शिर:कन्दुकलीलया ॥ १८ ॥

bhṛśam amarṣa-roṣāveśa-rabhasa-vilasita-bhru-kuṭi-viṭapa-kuṭila-daṁṣṭrāruṇekṣaṇāṭopāti-bhayānaka-vadanā hantu-kāmevedaṁ mahāṭṭa-hāsam ati-saṁrambheṇa vimuñcantī tata utpatya pāpīyasāṁ duṣṭānāṁ tenaivāsinā vivṛkṇa-śīrṣṇāṁ galāt sravantam asṛg-āsavam atyuṣṇaṁ saha gaṇena nipīyāti-pāna-mada-vihvaloccaistarāṁ sva-pārṣadaiḥ saha jagau nanarta ca vijahāra ca śiraḥ-kanduka-līlayā.

bhṛśam — very highly; amarṣa — in intolerance of the offenses; roṣa — in anger; āveśa — of her absorption; rabhasa-vilasita — expanded by the force; bhru-kuṭi — of her eyebrows; viṭapa — the branches; kuṭila — curved; daṁṣṭra — teeth; aruṇa-īkṣaṇa — of reddish eyes; āṭopa — by the agitation; ati — very much; bhayānaka — fearful; vadanā — having a face; hantu-kāmā — desirous to destroy; iva — as if; idam — this universe; mahā-aṭṭa-hāsam — a greatly fearful laugh; ati — great; saṁrambheṇa — because of anger; vimuñcantī — releasing; tataḥ — from that altar; utpatya — coming forth; pāpīyasām — of all the sinful; duṣṭānām — great offenders; tena eva asinā — by that same chopper; vivṛkṇa — separated; śīrṣṇām — whose heads; galāt — from the neck; sravantam — oozing out; asṛk-āsavam — the blood, compared to an intoxicating beverage; ati-uṣṇam — very hot; saha — with; gaṇena — her associates; nipīya — drinking; ati-pāna — from drinking so much; mada — by intoxication; vihvalā — overwhelmed; uccaiḥ-tarām — very loudly; sva-pārṣadaiḥ — her own associates; saha — with; jagau — sang; nanarta — danced; ca — also; vijahāra — played; ca — also; śiraḥ-kanduka — using the heads as balls; līlayā — by sports.

Translation
Intolerant of the offenses committed, the infuriated Goddess Kālī flashed her eyes and displayed her fierce, curved teeth. Her reddish eyes glowed, and she displayed her fearsome features. She assumed a frightening body, as if she were prepared to destroy the entire creation. Leaping violently from the altar, she immediately decapitated all the rogues and thieves with the very sword with which they had intended to kill Jaḍa Bharata. She then began to drink the hot blood that flowed from the necks of the beheaded rogues and thieves, as if this blood were liquor. Indeed, she drank this intoxicant with her associates, who were witches and female demons. Becoming intoxicated with this blood, they all began to sing very loudly and dance as though prepared to annihilate the entire universe. At the same time, they began to play with the heads of the rogues and thieves, tossing them about as if they were balls.

Purport
It is evident from this verse that the devotees of Goddess Kālī are not at all favored by her. It is Goddess Kālī’s work to kill and punish the demons. Goddess Kālī (Durgā) engages in decapitating many demons, dacoits and other unwanted elements in society. Neglecting Kṛṣṇa consciousness, foolish people try to satisfy the goddess by offering her many abominable things, but ultimately when there is a little discrepancy in this worship, the goddess punishes the worshiper by taking his life. Demoniac people worship Goddess Kālī to obtain some material benefit, but they are not excused of the sins performed in the name of worship. To sacrifice a man or animal before the deity is specifically forbidden.

ŚB 5.9.19

एवमेव खलु महदभिचारातिक्रम: कार्त्स्‍न्येनात्मने फलति ॥ १९ ॥

evam eva khalu mahad-abhicārāti-kramaḥ kārtsnyenātmane phalati.

Synonyms
evam eva — in this way; khalu — indeed; mahat — to great personalities; abhicāra — in the form of envy; ati-kramaḥ — the limit of offense; kārtsnyena — always; ātmane — unto oneself; phalati — gives the result.

Translation
When an envious person commits an offense before a great personality, he is always punished in the way mentioned above.
