A Brief Biography of Khenpo Nyima Pasang
(Thubten Lodrö)
Khenpo Nyima Pasang, also known as Thubten Lodrö, was born on November 16, 1981, in Kulung, Eastern Nepal. He was born to his father, Dawa Kyidpa, and his mother, Nyima Lhamo. From a young age, he studied reading, writing, and daily prayers under his father's guidance.
At the age of sixteen, he traveled with his father to Shechen Monastery in Nepal. There, he took the Great Lord of the Family, H.H. Shechen Rabjam Rinpoche, as his root guru. He enrolled in the monastery and successfully completed his studies through the primary school, the ritual college (Dratshang), and the higher Buddhist institute (Shedra).
Receiving Profound Teachings from Non-Sectarian Masters
Khenpo Ngima Pasang received vast empowerments and instructions from many of the greatest masters of this era:
H.H. Trulshik Rinpoche: Received empowerments from the Rinchen Terdzö, as well as the Damngak Dzö, Nyingma K**a, Nyingthig Yabzhi, Nyingthig Tsapo, the Collected Works of Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche, and the Dudjom Trokhroma and Vajrasattva empowerments.
H.H. Penor Rinpoche: Received the Nyingthig Tsapo, Ka-Gong-Phur Sum, Karling Sh*tro, the Dudjom Six Bardos instructions, and Phowa (transference of consciousness) teachings.
H.H. Taklung Tsetrul Rinpoche: Received the oral transmission (Lung) of Longchenpa’s Seven Treasuries (Dzö Dun) and the Tsewang Lobgyama (Long-life empowerment).
H.H. Sakya Gongma Trichen Rinpoche: Received the Tsewang Lobgyama and the oral transmission of the Seven-Line Prayer.
H.H. Dungse Thinley Norbu Rinpoche: Received the Dudjom Trokhroma and Vajrasattva empowerments, and the oral transmission of the Choying Dzö.
H.H. the 14th Dalai Lama: Received the White Tara Wish-Fulfilling Wheel empowerment and the Bodhisattva Vows.
H.H. Dodrupchen Rinpoche: Received the empowerments for the Nyingthig Yabzhi, the oral transmission of the Nyingthig Ngöndro, and the Son-jang (purification for the living).
H.H. Shechen Rabjam Rinpoche: Received the collected works of Dilgo Khyentse, Jigme Lingpa, Patrul Rinpoche, Shechen Gyaltsap, and Jamyang Khyentse Wangpo. He also received the Rinchen Terdzö and the empowerments of Jatson Nyingpo.
Khenchen Pema Sherab Rinpoche: Received Full Ordination (Bhikshu vows), and teachings on the Chitön Gongpa Düpa, Nangwa Lhadrup, and Nyugsem instructions.
H.E. Tengboche Rinpoche: Received the Dudjom Tam-Chag-Kyung Sum empowerment, Dilgo Khyentse’s Pema Tse-Nying, the Minling Tsedrup, and the Sera Khandro Seven-Chapter prayer.
H.H. Drikung Kyabgon Rinpoche: Received the Phowa Jag-tsuk-ma instructions and long-life empowerments.
H.E. Dzongsar Khyentse Rinpoche: Received the Khyentse Mandarava empowerment.
Meditation Practice and Retreats
Khenpo Nyima Pasang has dedicated significant time to practice:
Three years and three months at Shechen Pema Ösel Ling (Namo Buddha).
One month at Maratika Cave.
One month at Boudha stupa Kathmandu,
One month at Yangleshö (Pharping).
Six months at Namo Buddha.
He has completed the preliminary practices (Ngöndro) of Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche’s Rangjung Pema Nyingthig three times.
Additionally, he continues to observe a one-month retreat every year in various sacred locations.
Teaching Activities
He has served the Dharma through extensive teaching:
Shechen Shedra: Taught for two years.
Maratika Chime Takten Choling Monastery: Taught for nine years.
Ramechhap Dzongkha: Taught for two years. And leads more than 50 devotees the Ngondro of Jatson Nyingpo Terma Konchok Chidu,
Currently, he remains dedicated to teaching and practicing for the benefit of the Buddha’s doctrine and all sentient beings.
