Please Pray for Nepal,
2026 August 26,
The day before, Nepal witnessed one of the most devastating flash floods in recent years. A sudden surge of water entered the Bhotekoshi River from the northern border and swept through parts of Rasuwa, Nuwakot, Dhading, Gorkha and Chitwan. The flood moved rapidly downstream through the Bhotekoshi and Trishuli rivers, leaving destruction, fear and heartbreak in its path.
The disaster has taken many precious lives, while hundreds of people remain missing. Homes, roads, bridges, businesses and other infrastructure were destroyed or severely damaged. Many families are still waiting anxiously for news of their loved ones. In Chitwan alone, bodies carried downstream by the floodwaters were recovered from the Trishuli and Narayani rivers, making the tragedy even more painful for the communities there.
What makes this tragedy especially heartbreaking is how suddenly the flood came. People living and working near the rivers had very little time to react. Security personnel, hydropower workers, local residents and tourists were among those affected or reported missing. Rescue teams from the Nepali Army, Nepal Police and Armed Police Force have been working continuously to search for survivors and provide emergency assistance.
Our hearts are heavy for every family that has lost someone, every person who is still waiting for a loved one, and everyone who has lost their home and livelihood. At a time like this, Nepal needs unity, compassion and prayer. We pray for the souls of those who lost their lives, for the safe rescue of those still missing, and for strength and comfort for the affected families.
This tragedy reminds us how fragile life can be and how quickly nature can change everything. May God protect Nepal and its people, give courage to the rescue workers, and bring hope and healing to all those suffering from this heartbreaking disaster.
