Rev. Dr. Tunde Adeshina
Topic: The inescapable Mission of Jesus Christ
Texts: John 10:17-18; Heb 12:1-4; Rev. 5:12;
1. Escape Impossibility
It was possible for Jesus to escape, forfeit, forsake, refuse, reject, fled, resist the suffering and death of the cross. But because He knew the importance of every process, and for the joy that was set before Him He endured the cross, despising the shame. May God give you vision of what lies at the end of your divine pursuits in life. You certainly will not give in to any distraction. Were Dinah to have the understanding of her becoming the Mother of our Saviour, she would not have messed up with Shechem. Joseph saw a vision of greatness and he was able to resist Potiphar's wife from scutling his destiny.
Jesus is a good Shepherd, He loved the Sheep that was stolen, disconnected from it's owner and He decided to lay down His life to ensure that this sheep receive life and life in abundance and be eternally reconnected back to His maker. (John 10:10)
Jesus saw Himself becoming the Saviour of mankind, revoking the curse of the law, becoming the only way back to God, His blood will cleanse the heavens and the earth, all power in heaven and Earth will belong to Him. He saw it coming, the wounds, chastisement, the bruises, the stripes, the mockery, the cross carrying, the cruel death if the cross. He prayed that the cup pass over Him, but thank God as He looked unto His Father, He quickly remembered it is in this that the Father Loved Him, then He said, Not my will let your will be done. May God's will be done in your life in Jesus name. At another instance He said, He is able to command legion of angels to come to His rescue, but He did not. Hallelujah, Jesus went all the way to Calvary and collected for us from the hand of Satan all the Seven blessings and benefits of Sonship he stole from us - power, riches, wisdom, strength, honour, glory and blessing. (Rev (5:1-12)
2. Examples of Men Who Escaped
- Elijah defended himself from dying (2 Kings 1:9-13
- Elisha brought blindness upon those who sought after his life 2 Kings 6:14-23
-. Peter received deliverance from the the sword of Herod Acts 12
-. The 3 Hebrew Boys from the fire of Nebuchadnezzar Dan. 3
- Daniel from the lions' den Dan 6
-. Paul escaped using a basket and at another time using 900 armed men Acts 9:25; 23:12-23
-. Peter and John miraculously released Acts 5:17-25
-. Paul and Silas also had a great deliverance Acts 16:19-30
For Jesus, there was no deliverance, no way of escape, it is for this singular assignment that He came. Praise God He endured all.
3. End-User Implications
1 Cor 10:11-12
The lessons to learn from this inescapable mission of Jesus Christ are as follows
a. You are called to follow in His steps 1 Pet. 2:21; you must work worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing. Your meat must be to do the will of God and finish it, no SHORT CUT
b. To daily carry your cross and follow Jesus Christ in order to be His disciple. He never came to make converts, but disciples. Converts can't go far, can't endure sound teachings and hardness. They soon go back, with their, this is a hard saying, who can hear it. They want God's word watered down to make them live anyhow, ever learning and never coming to the knowledge of the truth.
c. Braze up for tribulations, for through it we shall enter into God's kingdom. (Acts 14:22) Yea if any man will live godly in Christ Jesus He will suffer persecution. When the trials, troubles and persecutions come, you are enjoined to look unto Jesus the author of your faith, consider always, Jesus, so you don't stop your journey half way. It is a race unto destiny set before you, you will make it to the end in Jesus name.
d. Persevere to complete the program that leads to hope that maketh not ashamed. (Rom. 5:1-5). There is a call not to rejoice only in the glory of salvation, but to also rejoice in tribulation because it will teach us patience. We must be patient in our walk with God to obtain the promise (Heb 10:36). Patience will bring about experience, this experience is what is needed to be a blessing to someone out there as a Christian. It's not enough to know the theory of the Bible, but to also have experiences of how we went through and how God helped us, testimonies- the consolation you received must be passed unto others for their own testimonies too. Praise God
e. It our month of recovery and completeness. When all the above mentioned implications work in your life, Satan and his cohorts will see you are called by the name of the Lord, they will fear you (Deut 28:10). Whatever they steal or have stolen will be restored back to you in folds.
Let us pray
If you have not given your life to Christ please do that now, so that you can obtain and partake in the full blessing Jesus received for us in His possible accomplished mission on Earth. Ask Jesus to forgive your sins, come into your life and be your Lord and personal Savior,
For those of us that have been saved by grace, take heed lest you fall. Ask for grace to persevere unto the end.
