Back in the day, while growing up in the village, dating wasn’t like it is today. We only had two ways of communicating either through hand-written letters or face-to-face conversations. But believe me, meeting a girl one-on-one took a whole lot of courage and “liver” 😅.
I remember spending over a week writing just one letter yes, one letter because I wanted every word to impress her. I’d write one paragraph, pause for days until something inspired me again. Funny enough, we used to go watch movies in the village square, paying ₦5 as gate fee which is a big money now 😂😅. But we weren’t just watching for entertainment we were listening closely, soaking in every sweet line of love just to copy and paste them into our letters to win a girl’s heart. That’s how far we could go just for a girlfriend.
Now pause and think… if we could dedicate so much time, effort, thought, and attention just to build affection with a fellow human being, how much more should we invest in our relationship with God? How many hours, how many days do we genuinely spend fellowshipping with Him not for what we can get, but for who He is?
If we must succeed in whatever ministry or assignment God has called us to, intimacy with Him is not optional it is the foundation. You can’t carry power without presence. You can’t walk in divine authority without daily communion. You can’t give what you haven’t received in the secret place.
So, let’s ask ourselves sincerely:
How much time are we giving to the One who gave us life and purpose?
If we gave God half the attention we once gave to our phone, workplace, relationship or probably a village love letter like I did😅, our lives would carry such power and presence that even hell would tremble when we speak.
Let’s return to our first love.
Let’s write not letters to impress, but prayers that transform.
Let’s not just seek His hands let’s seek His heart.
Only then will our ministry bear eternal fruit.
