Sermon Excerpts: January 2026 Healing Service
Topic: The Set Time
Genesis 21:1–2 | Ecclesiastes 3:1
God is a God of times and seasons. Nothing he does is random, delayed, or accidental.
A set time refers to the fullness of time, the appointed moment, predetermined by God to bring His word to pass.
God’s set time can manifest as:
- A time of fulfilment of promises
- A time of divine visitation
- A time of judgment
- A time of favour
📌Don’t Miss Your Appointed Time
Scripture warns us that if an appointed time is missed, it becomes a wasted opportunity. However, God also calls His people to live with hopeful expectancy, trusting Him even when the promise seems delayed (Romans 8:19; Job 14:14).
God never comes late. What we often perceive as delay is frequently a season of preparation, testing, and character development. In God’s timetable, there is no delay.
📌Six Truths About God’s Set Time
1. Set times operate by divine timetable
God works according to His own calendar, not human urgency.
2. Set times are connected to divine promises
Every prophetic word carries a fulfilment season.
3. Set times come with divine visitation
When the time comes, God Himself shows up.
4. Set times are anchored in purpose
There can be no set time without purpose. Every assignment precedes manifestation.
5. Set times carry divine sovereignty
When God moves, no power can hinder Him (Acts 1:7).
6. Set times demand expectancy
Believers must live with hopeful expectation, prepared for sudden fulfillment.
📌The Power of Set Time
When the set time comes:
- Hindrances are broken
- Opposition collapses
- Limitations lose their power
Examples in Scripture include:
Genesis 18:14 — “Is anything too hard for the Lord? At the set time…”
Genesis 21:1–2 — Sarah conceived exactly when God said she would
John 5:5–9 — The man at the pool was healed after decades when his set time arrived
When God’s time comes, what was once impossible becomes inevitable.
📌The Danger
While God appoints times, humans must recognize and respond to them.
Jesus lamented in Luke 19:41–44 because the people failed to recognize their time of visitation. Opportunity passed them by, not because God was absent, but because discernment was lacking.
Similarly, Jeremiah 8:20 declares: “The harvest is past, the summer is ended, and we are not saved.”
Here, harvest and summer symbolize seasons of opportunity. To miss these seasons is to miss what God intended to release within them.
📌Conclusion
The assurance of God’s timing is captured powerfully in Psalm 102:13: “You will arise and have mercy on Zion; for the time to favor her, yes, the set time, has come.”
This is a declaration for every believer. when God’s set time comes, mercy is released, favor is activated, and restoration is inevitable.
