Almighty and everlasting God,
we come before You in humility and repentance on this Ash Wednesday.
We acknowledge that we are dust, and to dust we shall return,
yet we thank You for the gift of life and the hope of salvation through Jesus Christ.

Merciful Father,
search our hearts and cleanse us from every sin.
Forgive us for the wrong we have done,
for the good we have failed to do,
and for the hardness of heart that separates us from Your will.

Create in us clean hearts, O Lord,
and renew a right spirit within us.
Teach us to walk in wisdom, righteousness, and love.
As we begin this season of reflection and renewal,
help us to pray more sincerely,
to fast with humility,
and to give with compassion.

Protect Your Church, O God.
Strengthen Your people against every evil,
and fill us with the power of Your Holy Spirit
so that our lives may shine as a light in the world.

May this season draw us nearer to the cross,
and may we grow in faith, hope, and love
until we rejoice in the victory of Christ.

We ask all these things
through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen.
