DIVINE SUNDAY SERVICE - FIRST SUNDAY OF MAY, 2026

THEME: THE FINISHED WORK OF CHRIST ON THE CROSS
TEXT: JOHN 10, COLOSSIANS 2:15, ROMANS 1:15

INTRODUCTION:
The finished work of Christ on the cross brought salvation and deliverance to mankind. Through His death and resurrection, Jesus completed the work of redemption and gave believers access to power, victory, and a new identity in Him.

MESSAGE:
The Power of the Cross:
• The work of the cross brings salvation
• Through the cross, believers were given power
• The sacrifice of Jesus secured victory for all who believe

The Release of Power to Believers:
• Jesus gave His disciples power three times in the Bible
a) When He resurrected
b) When He ascended
c) When He sent the Holy Spirit
• These moments represent the full release of divine authority to believers
• The Holy Spirit empowers believers to live and walk in that power

The Identity of Sons:
• Those who hold on to Christ with all their heart are given power
• They are called the sons of God
• This identity gives believers boldness and assurance in Christ

Victory Over Principalities:
• Principalities and satanic powers were taken captive through Christ
• The victory recorded in Colossians 2:15 shows that Jesus defeated the powers of darkness
• Believers now stand in that victory and authority through Him

CALL TO ACTION:
Hold firmly to Christ and believe in His finished work. Walk in the power given to you and live in the reality of your identity as a child of God.

PRAYER:
Father, thank You for the finished work of Christ on the cross. Help me to walk in the power You have given me. Strengthen my faith and help me to live in the victory of Christ every day. In Jesus’ name, Amen 🙏

THEME: THERE IS LIGHT AT THE END OF THE TUNNEL

TEXT: JOHN 11:5, JOHN 20:15, JOHN 2:52, ROMANS 4:5

INTRODUCTION:
The resurrection of Jesus Christ brought restoration to believers. It marked a shift from sorrow to hope and from defeat to victory. Through His resurrection, believers are justified and given a new life in Christ. This message reassures us that no matter what we face, there is always light at the end of the tunnel through Jesus Christ.

MESSAGE:
The Power of the Resurrection:
• The resurrection of Jesus Christ brought restoration to believers
• It restored hope to those who had lost faith and direction
• After His resurrection, Jesus appeared to His disciples, bringing reassurance and peace
• Peter experienced restoration and was recommissioned to serve God faithfully
• Jesus instructed Peter to feed His sheep, showing that restoration comes with responsibility

The Empowerment of the Holy Spirit:
• The disciples of Christ were empowered with the Holy Spirit
• When the Holy Spirit came upon them, they began to speak in different tongues
• This empowerment gave them boldness to preach and spread the gospel
• The Holy Spirit continues to empower believers today for service and spiritual growth

The Assurance of Light After Darkness:
• The resurrection of Jesus assures believers that darkness is never permanent
• If Jesus had not risen, humanity would not have been justified
• His resurrection is the foundation of hope and salvation
• Every believer can trust God for a better tomorrow regardless of present challenges
• Truly, there is light at the end of the tunnel for those who believe in Christ

CALL TO ACTION:
Remain steadfast in your faith in Jesus Christ. Trust in His resurrection power and allow the Holy Spirit to guide your life. Do not lose hope, because God is still working in your situation.

PRAYER:
Father, thank You for the resurrection of Jesus Christ and the hope it brings. Fill me with Your Holy Spirit and strengthen my faith. Let every dark situation in my life be turned into light. Help me to trust You completely. In Jesus’ name, Amen 🙏

TEXT: ROMANS 12:1–3

INTRODUCTION:
Encounter is the unexpected meeting with God or a spiritual being. Every true encounter with God brings a change. It is not possible to meet God and remain the same. Transformation is the visible proof that an encounter has taken place.

MESSAGE:
The Power of Encounter:
• Paul had an encounter with God that changed his life completely
• An encounter with God brings light where there was darkness
• Many people have not truly encountered God, that is why there is no real change in their lives
• Moses had an encounter with God and his life was transformed

The Power of Transformation:
• Transformation begins from within and reflects outwardly
• It is the beginning of a new life in Christ
• Transformation is the working of God in a person’s life
• A transformed life produces good character and godly behaviour
• Demonic transformation leads to destruction, but godly transformation leads to life
• Before transformation, there must be an encounter

The Result of Transformation:
• A transformed life reflects Christ
• There is a renewal of the mind
• The believer begins to walk according to God’s will
• Transformation brings a new identity and purpose
• It leads to a life that pleases God.

CALL TO ACTION:
Seek a genuine encounter with God. Allow Him to transform your life from the inside out. Do not resist the process of change. Open your heart and let God work in you.

PRAYER:
Father, I thank You for the power of transformation. Let my life experience a true encounter with You. Change everything in me that is not of You and help me to live a life that pleases You. In Jesus’ name, Amen 🙏
